Another day in the swamp! Sure feels like it – gray and humid. Didn’t do much this weekend because of this weather.

Saturday we got up fairly early and we all went to the Patterson farmer’s market. Got a few things. Came back, I went to Shoprite (supermarket) for milk, stain remover, Dunkin Donuts French vanilla iced coffee (yum) and the Harry Potter book. They had a good price and were not sold out at 11 AM. (I guess it helps that they are closed midnight to 7AM..I joked with the clerk if anyone waited in the store past midnight Friday night to see if they’d sell it or not.) While I was there at the store, Mark called. We ended up with some very good news, a friend of ours is expecting twins in February. She’ll be 44 and we didn’t think she and her ob/gyn husband would have any. Wonder if he will deliver the kids? When we first met her husband – we attended the bris of a mutual friend’s son. I at the time was very impressed with the way he held the baby in 1 arm the long way (I was 5 months pregnant and barely held a baby ever.) They’ll make great parents, and some of my saved baby stuff will have a home at last!

Took a nap later and went to my MILs. We are trying to wean him from tv watching there (he’s gotten into the habit of watching videos there, we (us and my MIL) would rather him play). We had mixed success with that.

Yesterday, we took in a local car show. Alan liked the playground more than the cars, but was very good. One exhibitor let Alan pick one matchbox/hotwheel car from a box of them he had – that was nice. Most car show people are very friendly and love to talk about their “babies” – but the hobby must be getting expensive with the cost of gas. It is weird to see the dream cars (Firebirds, Camaros) of my late 70’s HS days there. I keep thinking if I hang on to my “pink” Escort long enough, it could be in one of those shows! Then we went to Trader Joes (actually NOT buying lots of stuff, even no “cat” cookies) and came home. After his nap Alan woke up saying “How about dinner” and “How about hot dogs”. Well, he ate a little of his hot dog.

I took him to the playground for a bit and we played with sidewalk chalk. I had fun even if my artistic skills aren’t so good. Alan’s dexterity is getting better – he can assemble his Thomas track, but still needs help “fit it” with the arched bridge – he can’t figure out how to put the top back. He does seem to know how to fit the train cars together now and not try to push all of them at once!

Trying to get organized – we might just move the computers to the dinning area to give Alan a bedroom until the housing bubble bursts and we can get a house. Still have no idea how/when we’ll do that, but it’s something to shoot for.

I’m also trying to figure out what to do with my Gymbucks. I have 5 which amounts to getting 250.00 of stuff for 125.00. But I don’t see a lot like. So I may either return stuff I’ve bought to resell, or get rid of the gymbuck…reselling is a pain, especially since Mark doesn’t know and it would be hard to explain girl stuff. I may seem sometimes like a clothing addict for Alan, but most of his stuff is not bought at full price – he gets a lot of markdowns, garage sale, and consignment store stuff. There’s an article in this month’s Money magazine (not on line) about some who was 50K in debt (a lot of it gymboree addiction). Scary!
