Got not good news about an extended family member last night. My uncles SO may have had a breast cancer recurrance. She's had a tough life - raising 5 children alone, 2 ex's and previous health issues as well as a bad time working for USA Today at one point. But all of her children are reallly nice (we've met them) and her family is close knit. She lost a sister last year and a grandaughter had scarlet fever last year, so maybe stress aggrivated things.
Mark, Alan, myself and my MIL had been invited to a 70th birthday party (surprise) for her. (My SIL doesn't have much to do with her uncle, disagreements over the years). But it was at 4 PM on a Saturday in Mass where her daughter lives (She's in CT, most of her family in the Worcester area - except her son in Florida, we are probably otherwise the furthest away) - anyway we weren't going due to distance. But now I feel we either need to go or at least visit soon. We'll have to see what happens. And for those who say prayers, do say a prayer for Elaine.
They are shutting the water off in the condo for the 3rd time tommorrow to fix the pool valve. So I bugged the super, it should be finished tommorrow though. I guess I'd rather have 3 planned outages to replace a 40 year old valve than a pool leak!
My MIL picked up my microwave yesterday and dropped it off. Now we are back in contemporary times.
I'm going to bring Alan to the doctor Saturday. His scrapes on his forehead have left ugly red marks. Maybe I didn't take care of them well and they'd gotten infected. I figure if the pediatrician isn't the right person to see for badly healed wounds, they'd refer me to the right person. (I don't need a referal for insurance purposes though.)
Speaking of insurance, the company insurance as usual s*cks. We were supposed to get our FSA's reimbursed by direct deposit starting March 1. So I rushed to drop off a blank check and now noone knows when that will happen so they will send checks. We are self insured (I'm ok with that), but use a third-party-adminstrator to handle claims. I wish I knew what other companies did this and have some brochures or reps sent to HR. We could do so much better. (The coverage is good, but the management of it s*cks...never did resolve trying to get them to cover Sloan Kettering as a special case out of network.)
Should go sneak out for my free starbucks coffee today - it's between 10 and 12 (I bet it is there slowest time.)
