Found your post via icerocket.com -- I work for FedEx and hope to explain how it works. FedEx Express is the overnight air shipping, whereas FedEx Home Delivery is a division of FedEx Ground.
When a shipper wants to ship via FedEx Ground, they are given an option to require a signature or not, and to indicate "business" or "residence". Yeah, some of the Home Delivery guys do some businesses, likewise with the Ground doing some home deliveries.
When you order your item, be sure to get in contact with the shipper and ask that they do not require a signature. Your package would then be left at your house (hopefully a safe area, theft happens more than it appears.)

Hope this helps!
