And a friend suggested a nutritionist so we could all eat better - anyone ever use one (is it covered by insurance?)
I don't know if it will be in your case, but in the case of a diabetic, diabetes education (which is done by a nutritionist who is also a certified diabetes educator) is generally covered by insurance. So yes, as a diabetic, I have used one: twice, now. I first consulted one about eleven years ago, when I was diagnosed, and most recently went to one last week, where I confirmed that we were doing the right things in our household. I am in charge of nutrition planning, whether or not I cook each actual meal; sometimes Charles does the cooking, but I still am the one doing the planning, and specifying what we need to get WRT staples at the store.
Consultation with a nutritionist can be valuable, especially if you're trying to make healthful changes to your household's menu. You can actually do much of the research yourself first and confirm what you have learned with the nutritionist, or go in there to learn as much as possible and get an individualized household recommendation. Either way has merit and value.
