"One year, a child even asked for dog food so that they didn't have to give up the family dog that they could no longer afford. We delivered a year's supply of dog food."
I almost cried.
There was a lady at my old job that did something similar to angel trees (not sure if they have those there or not), but instead of just any poor kid it was children in the system without parents, or whose parents lost custody of them. I did it the first two years and even though I'm not working there anymore I've been considering contacting her and taking on a couple kids. I usually do a boy and girl around Elijah's age....but in the past I usually got all 'aww' when I saw really little kids in there and end up taking on, like, 4 kids, lol, can't do that this year, but it'd still be nice to do that because I can wrap the present up nicely and it goes straight to the kids....a lot better than sticking a present in a public bin at Walmart or something.
