36 Week Appointment

I had my appointment last night.
Blood Pressure 110/74
Weight 176 + 1 lb
I had the Group B Strep test. It was not a big deal, I was expecting more like a pap smear, it was just a little Q-tip, not painful or anything.
I had her check my stomach to see which way the baby is. She thinks his butt is up and the head down. She didn't say I'd dropped, but at least he's pointing the right way.
My husband asked me later if the baby feels weird upside down (he didn't come with me, but I was telling him about the appointment) I said I don't know.
I didn't have any measurements taken, nor an internal.
The doctor said it was up to me as to how long I keep working. As much as I don't want to work, with a limited maternity leave it is financially better for me to stay off disability as long as possible. I can probably work from home before I have to stop anyway. (Hopefully, I won't have to be on any conference calls where I can't hear...we have the worst phone system.)
Next appointment Monday. I got asked which doctor I hadn't seen in a while (they like to rotate me through all 4 doctors). I asked for and got my favorite one (she was my pre-pregnancy GYN, once I go back to routine care - I'll just see her!)

it's great that your BP stayed normal...

... glad to hear you're not experiencing an upward trend.

My BP's been good all along. There was one visit that it must have been high (I don't know the #, they had me lie down for 10 minutes on my left side and retook it - it was ok after that.)

I guess I'm lucky, I've had more non-pregnancy issues: colds, a yellow jacket sting, 2 sprained ankles than pregnancy problems so far.

I got special permission to keep working and use all my maternity leave after labor (usual procedure here is 2 weeks off before the birth, 4 weeks after AS IF you can possibly know exactly when your baby's coming!), and it was *well* worth it. I also used up my vacation time and some other time with it, and then took 2 weeks unpaid under FMLA. I have a desk job so it was no biggie to me to keep working (just had to endure lots of "no baby yet?" the week I went overdue) and I was so glad to have the extra time on the other side.

Glad to hear that everything is going well!

Since I haven't been here a year, I am not eligible for FMLA, so the maximum time I get for maternity leave would be 11 weeks (the 8 weeks for a c-section + 3 weeks saved vacation). I'm trying to be off until the first of the year if possible...Unfortunately, if I deliver too late, I'll lose vacation time as I'm only supposed to carry over 5 days..It's so tricky to schedule this...

Do you get to pick which of the 4 doctors delivers your baby?

Afraid not...I get who is on call, and once every six weeks or so there is someone who fills in for all of them on the weekend.

None of them have been BAD, I just like the original one I had best (when I started seeing her, the idea of having a baby was a long way off.)
