Interesting...passing onto some friends of mine!

My online store didn't open due to this stupid law. it's going to put almost every crafter in the country out of business.

That's the part that sucks big time. All home based crafts are going to be totally shot to shit. Stupid law.

Forgive my language, but this totally fucks with my ability to buy good used clothing for the Pixie. The only new clothes I buy for her are socks; everything else is secondhand because most of our income goes into paying for health insurance.

I'm going to hit the Thrift and the local consignment shop on Wednesday and buy ahead for the next two years' worth of clothes.

Dammitalltohell.

It's totally insane. I have no idea what I'll do with Alan's used stuff (clothes and other things). I mostly pass on to friends - but have donated to Goodwill sometimes.

I know this issue has people who make handmade clothing and toys for children up in arms.

I hadn't even heard of this law.

Sh*t.

There goes a bit of income for me. Guess I'd better call White Rabbit and ask for my check now before they go out of business.

I mean, WTF?????

This stuns me, and I don't even have (or plan to have) any children. Where do they get off mandating what parents can or can't buy? Just put the word out (or label the clothes) that second-hand clothes aren't tested for lead and let the parents make the choice. Since when is it the government's job to raise our nation's children? Keeping them safe is one thing, but unless they're going to start handing out clothing vouchers to the parents upon the birth of any child, they need to just step back and do their job of informing the consumer, not controlling them.

Thank God my kids are grown-ups now. I would guess that lots of folks will now have to just give clothes away rather then give them to a consignment store where both the seller and the store owner would benefit. What a shame.
