Hello from my new PC

Just got a new PC. It's a Gateway running Windows 7.
So far so good.
In honor of it being a Gateway - I've named it "Moo"!
(Sadly since it was a refurb, it didn't come in a cow spotted box!)

Have you used Windows 7 much already?

I didn't until I got my new PC in February. Man, oh man! I LOVE IT!

I'm spoiled now.

No, I haven't used Windows 7 before. But it's ok. I've been on every version of Windows since 3.1 it seems.

Now I need a new monitor, this one is so dark!

You need an HD monitor. I have a 22-inch HD monitor that has officially replaced the television in my bedroom. I watch EVERYTHING on it now.

Aww...too bad about the lack of the cow-spotted box. But I hope you love the new computer!

No feeling like a new computer, been considering going that way myself as my netbook seems to be approaching death throes. Enjoy!

Didn't you just get your netbook?

Yes! The middle of October! Which, the battery life is obscene and I can't complain about that, but everything else... wow. For the record, it's an MSI Wind. Do not recommend.

Thanks for the warning. Where are you planning to shop for your new one? I routinely get e-mail from Tigerdirect.com boasting very good deals (that's where I got my wireless routers from).

The next one'll be an HP. My first laptop was an HP and even though it was a refurb and likely several years old by the time it found its way to me I got a lot of mileage out of it, and it was a good choice. The repair experience wasn't bad, I found they were fairly responsive. Right now HP's got a netbook with comparable (a little better in some areas, little worse in others) specs to mine for about $75-$100 less than I paid for this one. If I weren't saving for a car I would've already traded up.

I'll almost certainly be getting it from the HP site. My first netbook was a Dell, and I enjoyed the dickens out of it until I watched the screen crack and die after having it for less than a year, and when Dell wouldn't lift a finger to help I resolved never to do business with them again. Maybe it's better if you're a business customer.

Seems like I've done business with Tiger Direct before, I know they have awesome deals from time to time, and I've had at least one friend who built herself an entire desktop system out of components she got from Tiger Direct. I hear good things :)

My retired PC was a Dell refurb and it did me well, but I think they've gone downhill since I bought it (2003/2004). This one is from Micro Center and I like their support having brought other things to them to be looked at for repairs.

I hear good things about Micro Center! I have many other friends who use them and I can't remember anything bad I've heard about them offhand.
