A memory

Alan had to write his homework items down on paper tonight which I had to sign. One was spelling, but the second was  "Math ditto". (It was a xeroxed worksheet) I hadn't heard the word ditto in years. It made me think of those blue mimographed sheets (and the smell) from my past - I remember them being called dittos!

I remember that it was a special privilege to go to the front office and run off "dittos" on the machine. I can practically smell that reproduction fluid!

That is a memory! I remember that we called most copied classwork "busy work", and I find myself saying that to Gavin. Probably not the best way to describe his homework!

we never had a name for those sheets but just the thought makes me feel ill, that smell, awful! I'd forgotten about it, I hadn't realised I was sensitive to smells even back then, well other than my aunt's perfume and we all complained because that tasted horrid, I don't remember the smell of it, but the taste, eeuugghh spit spit!

The smell of damp ditto sheets! It came washing over me.

I remember dittos, too, and their damp feel when they'd first been done. I also remember how there was a girl with low vision in our school chorus - she always had to have a "black copy" (ie Xerox) of whatever, because she couldn't read the blue/purple dittos.
