100 days of kindergarten

Alan has his 100th day party next Wednesday and he has to bring in 100 things. But the 100 things must fit in a ziploc bag the teacher gave us (I think it's a sandwich sized one). So that ruled out his idea of bringing in 100 Hot Wheels! (I think he really has that many). Fortunately, this also rules out his other idea of 100 bakguans (which he doesn't have!)

Any suggestions?

jelly bellies? Pennies? Candy?

These are the sorts of things that my niece's class brought to a 100 days party. Oh! And cereal, like Fruit Loops or KIx.

I think we did pennies.
Paperclips. Uncooked elbow macaroni pieces. Marshmallows. Cheerios.

Marbles. Pennies or nickels. Pieces of penny candy. Wooden beads. M&Ms.

I vote for jelly beans or cereal.

We did beads. For a bag of 500 it was like $2 and Elijah got to pick out which color combos he got. And I got a tub of peach gummy circles at walmart for $2 as well. To fit in a small ziplock bag, I'd say skittles, which is what I was going to do first. Cause we had to do an edible item and a non edible item:)

A friend of mine did cotton balls - I am not sure her bag was that small.

We have done beads, Love Hearts, and this time we made a pretty collage of sparkly sticky things.

popcorn, dried beans, pennies, paper clips, beads, crayons might fit into the bag, unshelled nuts, pasta, stickers, q-tips. Now of course you know Peter won't want to bring any of those and will make me think up some other thing for him to bring.

We've done 100 gummy worms (took some smushing to get them into the bag provided, but a determined child is capable of great effort. :)

We've also used 100 paperclips in a chain, and one year I went to a party store and got 100 of these little tiny plastic spiders used for decorating.

You've gotten lots of great ideas. The only other ones I've thought of would be something like 100 buttons or 100 pieces of string.

Josh put 100 stickers on a piece of paper and took that - we had a gallon-sized bag and it worked, but you could fold the paper for a smaller bag. :)

Any of the above. Wes actually brought in 100 of those little flat-bottomed glass pebbles that you often see in net bags in dollar stores. They were cobalt blue and turquoise and clear and green. I volunteered in the classroom to help with some of the 100th Day activities (Livvie came with and had fun!) last Friday and my activity was to have them put one of each of their objects they brought on a grid with 100 squares numbered 1-100..and then I read them the story The Wolf's Chicken Stew. A couple of the kids hadn't brought stuff in or saw Wessy's glass pebbles and wanted to use them so I let them. heh. They'd all made 100th Day hats and so I had them put their hats on the table and everytime the word "hundred" came up when we were reading the story, they had to put their hats on. A good time was had by all. :)

Those silver edible cake-decorating ball-bearings.

Or 100 different cake-decorating thingies - ball bearings, sprinkles, choc chips.
