I attended a LaLeche League meeting last night. I didn't think I'd make it as I had to wait 40 minutes at (NYC) Port Authority for a bus due to to traffic. And the one that came had very little Air Conditiong...but once on the bus he made great time.

I got there at 7:20. The meeting hadn't started. I expected a "formal" meeting with a speaker. What I saw was somewhere between 6-12 mom's in a circle with their babies. The babies were between 4 weeks and 22 months in age. Initially I was overwhelemed, I'd never seen so many babies in one place (I'm not used to being around more than 1-2 kids at a time.) But it turned out to be a friendly bunch. I even got to hold 2 babies :) I did find it a little odd, that the older babies were nursing, but I think it was because I'd *never* seen that.

I mostly listened as the topic of the day was breast feeding problems. I came away with some literature to read. I also got to see a sling in use and tried it empty. They are studier than they look (I've been fearing they break or untie easily) and I will probably get one.

It was good experience. I may skip the August meeting as the topic is weaning...and I haven't started yet.

There was one baby there about a year old. He was nearly bald (had fine red/blond hair) and blue eyes. He was very active, crawling all over. I think little Alan will be like that. He liked the meeting cause I was getting a few pokes during it - I guess he either want to play or try the breast feeding :)

Where were you born?

Doctor's Hospital, Manhattan, New York City

If you still live there, where would you rather move to? If you don't live there, do you want to move back? Why or why not?

I can't live in the hospital , but I wouldn't live in Manhattan (working there is bad enough). I'm a suburban person, I'd be happy if I never really went to the city.

Where in the world do you feel the safest?

Home with husband and kitties! But as for a place to be out and about - I would say the Amish county (Pennsylvannia Dutch country). They are too low-tech (or no-tech) to bother anyone.

Do you feel you are well-traveled?

No. I've been up and down all the eastern seaboard states but only west to Chicago and West Virginia. I've only been to 2 foreign countries: Canada and the Bahamas. I hope to someday make it to the west coast and to Australia/New Zeland.

Where is the most interesting place you've been?

I don't know if it is the most interesting but I would say my current favorite place is Toronto.
