Spoke to the vet tonight.
His diagnosis was mild irriatable bowel syndrome to be treated with prednisone, he will even call my local human pharmacy for the prescription. (He did say something about diffuse cancer...but that it was rare or unlikely...somehow if Moxie had cancer, he wouldn't lose weight SLOWLY over 2 years I think.)

I'm relieved. The prednisone is important but not to the point if I miss a day he'd get messed up (if it were thyroid problems or diabetes I'm treating - I don't have anyone to care for him if I went away that could pill him.)

Does long term steriod use have bad effects on cats though? My dad always blamed the steriods he took for emphasema for messing up his immune system. I personally know steriods make you have an appetite from a time I was briefly on them.
