Weekend Update
Apr. 5th, 2004 11:14 amAnother busy weekend for us.
Saturday AM my cousin on my dad's side stopped by. He was in the area from North Carolina and had never met Alan. Alan was a bit shy at first, but warmed up eventually. Jeff, being the only other engineer in the family, brought Alan some wooden blocks which were a big hit - Alan even likes taking them in and out of the box.
After he left, we took a ride to the Woodbury Commons outlet mall with my MIL. It was a little cold up there and we didn't find any great bargains. I got a cute little raincoat (a rescue heros fireman design) for Alan at the Totes store, a shortsleeved turtleneck at Eddie Bauer and 2 boxes of yummy looking berry bread mix at Harry and David (75% off on those). We also put Alan on the little mechanical rides there. We held him a little because the rides don't have seat belts and are for a little older child, but he liked it a lot, kept trying to push buttons to see if they made noise (they didn't). Now we'll have to learn where all of these are when we got shopping :)
Yesterday we did a typical sunday trip for us - the dollar stores and the italian grocery (with good fruit and bread). No real bargains there (and no more dinosaurs at Dollar Tree that I'd been collecting for Alan) - but a few things we needed between the 2 stores. And Alan got to eat watermellon and bread we bought at the grocery. (But my husband has to learn that mellon is messy feeding him - fortunately it washed off his new coat!) I also went to the children's clothing store across the way and got a few bargains - a baby gap long sleeved t (label was cut) marked down to 3.97, a mid weight coat and hoodie for now and fall. (The hoodie ran very small, I got a 3T - basically its almost the same length as a old navy 12-18 month one except the arms are longer on the 3T!) Even if the hoodie doesn't fit him into the fall, it was cheap enough (3.97 I think).
Then we came home - we all napped and did laundry. At least this week the washer and dryer worked without problems :)
This AM when I got to Alan's sitter, the railing had fallen off her steps. She has high brick steps to get in with a little landing. The railing was loose for a long time, her husband tried to fix it last year but it didn't hold. She is calling her landlord (they rent) - we both agree it needs fixing ASAP and I know she will be careful if Alan goes out - I think she may even carry her almost 5 year old daughter down the stairs at this point.
And yet again my HR has managed to p*ss me off in an e-mail. I'm hoping someone will take action - there's a difference between a professional HR attitude and a cold and hostile one. It's HUMAN relations/resources not HOSTILE.
