I didn't have a childhood nickname. My dad used to call me Les as I got older, but I didn't like it. I just let him do it as he was my dad. At some point Leslie got twisted into Lesbie the way mean kids do and I hated it.

More kids? Still don't know (althought it looks like no). I got the ok as far as my thyroid cancer doctor is concerned, but will chat with my OB/GYN next monday about it. I want to clear it medically first. My husband isn't into it because of the financial reasons. He does have a sister and althought they aren't super close, we do get along. I just would like Alan to have a sibiling as family on both sides is very small (I'm an only child) and he will have no first cousins (I doubt my SIL will marry or have a family). We have a close friends son 5 months older than Alan that will be like a cousin for Alan. My husband isn't crazy about adoption either (for us, not in general). I wouldn't care if I had a child or adopted one. If I had the $, I'd probably adopt a Korean or Chinese baby girl.

We are having a thanksgiving pot luck today at work - multicultural with roast duck, kosher and indian foods along with the usual. It will be fun. I was lazy and brought bread. (It's good bread though from the italian grocery we frequent).

Saturday was a busy day. In the morning we stopped at the supermarket/bank, National Wholesale Liquidators (like Big Lots) to get car keys made and get wine for thanksgiving, then another banking stop and to my MILs. We got her a new PC (a refurbished e-machines from Tiger Direct). After lunch, I set the machine up, my MIL took Alan off to the supermarket so he'd nap in the cart, and Mark and my SIL went to do some research at the library for her new sales job. It was quiet, and I got the pc setup. Still need to put XP service pack 2 on and office (I'm installing my unused legal copy of office XP I won in a survey). It's actually a nice pc with a built in memory card reader and 512MB ram and a dvd burner. Even using AOL on dialup it doesn't seem that slow.

We went home and then went over a friends house. 7 adults and 2 kids were going out to dinner. We ended up chosing a diner as it was late and the two two-year olds weren't going to wait forever. Alan was very good. He was social with our friends, played with the 2 year old (his cousin Jeff). He was patient wating for food (thank you daycare). He played on our friends piano (she's a music teacher) - it wasn't random banging - he may have a little talent. The only thing that upset him was their dog, a friendly golden retriever - she was licking him and he was just up from dozing in the car and he was backed into a table by her. Alan did enjoy his grilled cheese, fries and ice cream. His favorite was the pickles. He must have eaten 3! (and the output was yucky the next day :( )

We went home after that due to the rain.

Sunday we got up early and went to Compusa to get memory for Mark's computer and an MP3 player. We got there at 9:55. Compared to the old dot-com days no one was there waiting. We got the memory, but decided to wait for the MP3 player. We finally used the 40 gift card we'd gotten for complaining about a rebate though. We also stopped a 99 cent store and our favorite Italian grocery on the way home (aka the bread and fruit store as Alan and Mark usually share bread and cut up melon on the way home!)

Later we went with a friend to the new walmart and sams club that opened up. We printed 1 day passes off the website. Alan fell asleep on the ride down. So while we left the car for an oil change, Alan slept in the car in Sams club. We saved him some samples till he woke up. Then we went to walmart. I didn't get much (wipes and juice) but it was something to do and our friend needed to vent about his upcoming trip to visit family (no, he doesn't want to go.) Came home, Mark napped - I played with Alan, we colored (he wouldn't stay on one page though, so it was hard to do a coloring book or blank paper). I tried to find the playdough I bought, couldn't so I worked with him on a number puzzle (he's doing wooden puzzles really good now). Had dinner - Alan had watermellon :) bathed Alan (he's now fearful of going in, so I have go in with him now...and then I still have trouble with rinsing - he won't put his head back so has gotten water/soap in his eyes...sigh.) got him to bed (not easy as he can open the bedroom door now) and did laundry.

Short week for me - today and tommorrow. Took Wednesday and Friday off. Thursday is thanksgiving at my cousins, friday after shopping is a thanksgiving dinner at my MILs with Mark's uncle and aunt and SIL, Saturday I have an endocrinologist appointment (brief) and dinner with friends that night.
