Dull day

Slow day. Kind of a dull weekend.

Saturday my SIL and I got our licenses renewed. It was actually pretty quick – they didn’t spend hours looking at my paperwork (with NJ’s new 6 point ID system – I made sure to bring my birth certificate, first marriage certificate, divorce certificate and second marriage certificate and they barely glanced at them). I offered to take my SIL out for coffee on the way home (I said, we’d better do coffee, joking about any other drinking wouldn’t be appreciated…not that we were going to drink). So we stopped and headed home. Later my SIL, myself, and Alan went over my MILs house. Alan stayed behind with his grandmother while my SIL and I went shopping. (Mark stayed home to do some work). I got very little actually at Target (diapers, scissors for Alan, soup). Not much else at Sears (this Sears in Hackensack is never busy) – found Alan pj’s for 4.54 with a “Hot Wheels” design on them. Then I stopped at Gymboree to get what I couldn’t get online. When I got back to my MILs, my husband, MIL and Alan went to the grocery store. I installed my MILs DSL (pretty easy) and completed my pending Gymboree order (I didn’t want to order until I found the out of stock item or I’d have shorts and no top!)

Sunday we went with a friend to Hometown Buffet. We love it, but the nearest ones are an hour away. We enjoyed it (Alan ate pretty well, although he doesn’t stuff a whole cheesecake in his mouth as he did when he was a baby) – we also met 2 other friends there. We headed back and didn’t do much the rest of the day.

Yesterday we went to Staples to get some president’s day specials. Talked Mark into getting a second DVD burner for 20.00 after rebate to replace his dead CD drive. (After installing one into each of ours, I’ll have no problem putting this one in!) (Our Staples are closed Sundays due to Bergen County’s Blue Laws). Then we stopped again at my MILs, where I put DVD burning software on her PC. I still need to update her antivirus software though. Went home and managed to get Alan to nap (I napped also). And then I got 2 loads of laundry done, and yet another friend stopped by and we ordered a pizza. And, yes, we did see the highly advertised “Sponge Bob Lost In Time” episode where Sponge Bob winds up in medieval times (the era, not the restaurant – although they did spoof the restaurant in the beginning). I saw part of it, it was silly, but probably all wrong by SCA standards!

We’d also stopped at McDonalds so Alan could play in the play area. He had a good time and ended up befriending another 3 year old. I feel funny sometimes in public with him though – he’s got scars on his forehead from wounds he’d picked at, a little scab under his nose (from rubbing) and the missing teeth on top and bottom – I hope no one thinks I hurt him – actually with the scars on his forehead, he looks like he was in an accident.

(My husband is very social – he likes to do things with friends. He also loves to chat on the phone!)

Oh, remember the DVD/VCR I sent back for repair. Well, it was sent via UPS on 2/10. I haven't gotten it yet, and its coming from a town less than 10 miles away. Don't buy Daewoo products, especially a dvd/vcr.

I put together one of my Target toy clearance finds tonight (either 7.xx or 4.xx from 29.99) for Alan - I'd brought it in from the car trunk to encourage pretend play and he found the box in my closet.

I took this from a site selling it for 74.99 - Target's version (identical) was 29.99!

Unfortunately Alan was a total pain tonight - wouldn't eat dinner, was on top of me while I was putting this together (I had small screws to use, I didn't want him loosing them on him), didn't want to do anything including go to bed - he'd say something like I want macaroni and cheese then refuse to eat it.
Mark wasn't much help - he was doing work or tax stuff - he either leaves stuff to me or comes in and plays the goofy parent like letting him have waffles after 9:30 (and with chocolate syrup) because he didn't eat. I'm more like, he won't die if he misses dinner, maybe he'll learn to eat it. I wish I could get Mark to try to focus more on Alan at night. I'm finding that somehow I can handle him easier now that he's more communicative - but I still can't get a good bedtime routine down for all of us which I want to include reading a book and BRUSHING his teeth. (Yes, his dental visit tommorrow will be fun...I think he may need to be sedated for a cleaning and xrays at some point, he's very bad on the chair - perhaps due to previous trauma). And he's scratched another boo boo on his forehead. Hopefully I can keep this one bandaged and clean so it won't scar. I think I'll have to have his forehead looked at some point if the other red marks don't fade.

And I still can't get to list the eBay stuff I've got plus some for a friend who really needs money. I got some photos done last night, a start anyway.

I did make it to work at 9:04 today, I hope to get the earlier leaving down this week, I'd like to keep the work from home once in a while deal I'm doing tommorrow (so I can get Alan to a 6:30 appointment without leaving early).
