Dropped Alan off at daycare. Apparently he still isn't doing well at cleanup - he throws himself on the floor rather than do certain things. I know *we* are disorganized, that doesn't help. I got 1-2-3 magic from the library and am trying to read it. I just have to get Mark to agree and stick to whatever we come up with.
I also dropped off my car at the dealer. They remembered me from my long saga with the radio. Anyway, the guy tells me it was put together from other cars (why *HE* didn't tell me back when I first got the car I don't know). The front and rear windows have been replaced (they don't say *GM* on them). All of the stuff I brought it in for will probably be under warantee with 2 exceptions: the defroster wire won't be because it isn't the original window and they have to see what is going on with the groaning noise on the steering - if it is factory stuff it will be covered. The other things I wanted done were to reattach the gas cap to the door, fix the spring that came out of the wiper arm, check the "accesory port" by the steering wheel (aka cigarette lighter), and I had a free oil change coupon.
Lesson learned: do not buy a car without a mechanic looking at it. and look by daylight also. I couldn't tell the car had been fixed (and carfax came up clean, but if someone bought it dented and fixed it themselves it wouldn't show - especially if they never reported the original accident). If we hadn't been in such a rush and mad at the mechanic I used for years, I would have had it looked at (I remember dragging the old Escort over Staten Island from NJ just for this reason).
When Mark's Geo dies, hopefully we will have enough time to find a replacement. He'll run it into the ground - it's got 120-130K on it now and makes rumbly noises when it's cold (needs a muffler?) and I don't like to drive it.
Oh, I called on the microwave. Still under warantee, so we will get it fixed. But we may get a new one as the prospect of another 2 weeks without a microwave is not good.
