Weekend Update
Jun. 4th, 2006 11:57 pmSince I'm waiting up to peek at the new Gymboree lines (probably eh from what I've seen), I figured I'd blog my update.
Friday at lunch - treated myself to the full works manicure and pedicure. They did a good job, but the color was redder than I'd wanted. (OPI nails "Pisa of work"). Next time I'll do a bronzey color. They also did "threading" on my face. Not sure how it worked exactly, but my skin is much smoother in many places now.
Friday night - out to dinner with MIL at Charlie Brown's. I'm not crazy about the way they redid the Oradell one which we used to go to alot, I prefer the bigger, less busy Carlstadt one. (For those not in NJ, Charlie Brown's is a steakhouse type chain with free salad bar - no relation to the cartoon. It was still rainy and icky though as it would be most of the weekend.
Saturday - off for Alan's haircut in the AM. And I got my bangs trimmed at the same time. Alan was super good - he just wanted to watch the Thomas video that was on. Then we hit a few yard sales, got some stuff for Alan including a Thomas costume and pocket watch (no trains). Also a few items of clothes to grow into. Then to Target to do a return. We hung out there for a bit as it poured while we were inside. You've spent too much time in Target if you know the sound of HEAVY rain on the roof there! Then we came home and to my SILs. With help from a family friend, we got her TV's hooked up more or less (even without cable) - slowly the new place is shaping up. Alan loves it because she has no carpet - just wood, tile and pseduowood - great for playing with toy cars. Our friend tried to get her old laptop on wireless, since her modem appeared to be fired. There were a lot of unsecured networks in her place, but apparently he had trouble with the laptop and wireless card after we left. We'd stopped in Wendy's on the way home and were about 3 miles from home when the car started making noises. Got out, passenger rear tire was flat. Called AAA, but they were a little irked I didn't know the town I was in (I was on a town line). But I had the streets and the house #. So I got the donut tire out and jack while we waited. They came quickly and the young guy was super nice. Even told me where junkyards were to get a full sized spare. (I don't feel comfortable putting tires on but know a lot about them.) Alan seemed interested in the car stuff. So with the donut on we headed home.
This morning I went to Walmart in Secacus to get a new tire. Well, Walmart didn't have my size, so they sent me next door to Sam's Club which opened at 10. They had my size, but without joining them, they wouldn't put it on. So I brought the tire back to Walmart for installation. I told the guy at Sam's that if I could carry a toddler, I could carry a tire (it doesn't wiggle). So went back to Walmart and had some nice husband and child free time to browse and try on. Got some stuff for me, a few household things, and some Cars stuff for Alan (shirt, cup, socks) and some more socks for him. Got the car back, got a new key made (I needed an extra, the GM dealer trashed my key I had them make the last time) and came home. Friends had come over whom I was glad to see. They did bring us fancy stuff for birthday/anniversary gifts (the husband is a big crystal lover...I used to joke he'd register for the wedding more than his bride to be would!) Then after lunch, we went to the Ft. Lee street fair and Whole Foods. Kind of a an eh fair and only ate samples at Whole Foods. Came home Mark and Alan napped, I borrowed Mark's car and had it washed and got an airfreshner - he may get mad at me for it, but it really needed the wash and vaccum. Then when I got home - I did laundry including the car seat cover.
Alan was cranky today. He threw a big hissy fit when PBS wasn't showing Thomas this AM. And was crabby about dinner and going to bed. Still have to work out him going to bed by himself and then into his room. I think he just needs more sleep, it adds up after a while.
Got to go - check Gymboree and crash!
