Another gray, wetish day in a whole month of them it seems. I know I tend to forget to water my plants on the deck in the summer, but this is ridiculous!
At least Thursday is our ADR hearing. I’m tired about hearing my MIL’s “helpful” suggestions and Mark being so negative about everything. I guess we are all stressed. This whole thing probably could have been resolved ages ago if the neighbors spoke to us. And someone else has been leaving the laundry door open and light on lately. I’ve closed the door and/or turned off the light at least 4x in the past week. And we had an awkward moment yesterday – we were coming in as the neighbors and some friends were leaving. It didn’t help that Alan just woke up from a car nap and was cranky.
We did have fun this weekend. We went to the company picnic. It turned out to be an easy drive and traffic wasn’t too bad (especially not bad on the always busy Cross Bronx Expressway).
They had a huge outside tent – although there was still some water that came into the ground during the heaviest rain. At least Alan and I had sandals on, and Alan had a change of clothes. Unfortunately, my cell phone fell out of my pocket and got wet. (I found my old one this AM, transferred the SIM card to it and it works. I think I’ll get a new battery since this one tends to die a lot – and the broken one was sent back to Nokia under warrantee – hopefully it is fixable.)
They had good food there – burgers, hot dogs, lobster, oysters, corn on the cob, assorted ice cream, soda, beer and wine, cookies. They also set up a bounce house and carnival games for the kids. Those activities were all included, Alan was able to go play as many times as he wanted – he doesn’t do so well waiting his turn for a 2 minute bounce. There was also an outdoor pool (not really good for a non-swimmer) – and an indoor one (we didn’t use it though). There was a juggler who was good with the kids – he was using a plastic plate spinner – he told me where you get one (www.briandube.com) and tried to show the kids how to use it. (Alan preferred to play with the stick though!)
We got to change on the way home in one of the hotel rooms – they’d left towels, and sample sizes of soap, conditioner, shampoo etc out (I took home one each of the shampoo, conditioner and lotion – all good brands). I did take photos, I will post them up in the next few days. Not too many from my group or people I knew attended and Mark and I felt people were a bit cliquey though – no name tags or speeches to all.
Yesterday I actually straightened up the mess on the counter of the master bath. It had been jumbled since it was painted 2 years ago. I even put back the clock radio (AM only alas) and put batteries in my shower radio (so I can get FM). I still have a surplus of body stuff, but I can see it now and hopefully use stuff up.
Later we went to my SILs. I was busy there. I helped take out her OLD HUGE microwave (she got a new one). I also connected her new digital answering machine and new fax/printer/scanner/copier. (It’s an Epson, it seems nice). Her new place seems bigger than the old one since she decluttered so much. Her bedroom overlooks a little yard. One of the trees grows up against her window. A squirrel climbed up the tree while were in the room, but he left before I could get photos – he was right up close!
Today I dropped Alan at daycare in the AM (no more stop at someones house). We stopped in the bagel place and Alan got his chocolate milk like he used and asked for his chocolate muffin! I also ran across the Avon rep I used to be under, and asked for a book. I’m not selling again, but I like a few products.
I still need to go to sleep earlier, I’m tired. I need to go to Target later though for a few things on sale. Hopefully it won’t rain too much or it will be too flooded to go. Mark will probably take Alan to “Valley Fair” (which is really a Value City) and show him the pet store section again. Alan loves it!
