It’s Monday and payday. I think a mistake was made on my check in my favor, but I will have to research it. It’s not my bonus though.
It’s the last day before the new boss starts. He’s picked a rough day to start – it will be brutally hot tomorrow and I’m sure he’ll dress up the first day.
My Naartjie order for Alan arrived. Have to see if I like it all together. I think I may return something as I don't like the colors.
It was one of those weekends. Saturday AM we got up early and went to a local Italian bakery (hole in the wall place) to get hot fresh bread. Then to a local homemade pasta place and got fresh ravioli – both are in an Italian area. (For anyone near me, it’s Fragole’s bakery in Lodi and Vitamia in Garfield). Came home, went out again with Alan to the bank and post office and one bust of a garage sale. Then all of us went to Paramus Park mall – I wanted to get Alan measured for shoes at Stride rite. I did but didn’t buy ANYTHING because Mark was with me. I did see PJ’s at the Disney Store for 5.99 (and lots of Cars stuff). We also checked out “Thomas World”. Sadly their inventory seems to be getting low, and they don’t even have a train table for kids to play with anymore.
We came home and for dinner went to my MILs and saw my SIL.
Sunday we’d wanted to go to the beach. But it was too hot (Mark is heat sensitive and wouldn’t do well.) So in the morning we got up and went to the local farmers market (Patterson) and got some good deals. The trick here is that a lot of the fruit is just on the other side of perfect – so you have to eat it quickly (or preserve it). But it’s cheaper than the supermarket.
Came home and then we went to Alan’s first movie – Cars. The theater wasn’t very crowded and all the children there were good. Alan sat the whole movie, only getting restless during some slower stuff toward the end. I thought the movie was pretty good – very impressed with animation – some of the scenic shots and water shots must have been difficult to do.
I found it amusing that there was a train in the movie (Lightning McQueen is at a railroad crossing). I also found it surprising that the word H*LL was in it (not offensive to me, just odd – someone (Lightning?) used the phrase “hillbilly h*ll”). I loved Chick’s sponsor “Hostile Takeover Bank” and did stay for the fun stuff with the credits (not after). We found the short (One Man Band) preceding the movie on youtube.com last night.
Afterwards we got ice cream pops at Stop and Shop. But Alan didn’t nap at home and was a handful – so I didn’t take him swimming. He also had a p**p accident in the bedroom which was messy to clean up. (I’d had him pull-ups, but I don’t think a diaper would have stopped this – fortunately everything – clothes, Alan, carpet, tile – cleaned up!)
I’m glad Alan is in a daycare with air conditioning and not an outdoor camp this week. I’ve heard predictions of 100+ degree heat with heat indexes for Tuesday/Wednesday. Too bad as the town’s night out (a showing of Shark Tales in the park near us) is Tuesday.
