Haven't updated in a few days, so while I am waiting for the new Gymboree line to appear tonight, I thought I'd write:
Wednesday night was Back to School night at the public school. We had a nice chat with Mrs. T his teacher. Found out she has a special needs child of her own (he's 14) and she's studying adminstration at night graduating in December. The district is so lucky to have her. Then Mark and I toured the school as we'd never been it very much. We then visited the child study team and went to the other school across the street and had a nice chat with his speech teacher. We were glad we came.
Thursday was crazy. Alan was a crab in the AM. Then I got the prescription for my mamogram, stopped at the party goods store to get the tablecloth for the college night (I like to put a burgundy (school color) one down on the table, because the professional recruiters have nice ones.).Then off to the mammogram. Well, I got there 10:30, wasn't seen till 12:30 and left by 2. (I'd only told work I was taking 1/2 day off). But nothing was found! They didn't get films from earlier this year at an affliated facility- maybe there was some miscommunication about them - frustrating as I'd mentioned this when I made the appointment.? Anyway I e-mailed the hospital with complaints later on during the week. At 2:45 I met the woman who will walk Alan back and forth :) Then I came home and tried to work. At 5:30 I left for the college fair. Got a decent chicken dinner, saw some of the recruiters I've gotten to know (all down at the end of the alphabet). The fair went well, got some seriously interested students and a few people who just took the candy I brought. One potential student amused me. He looked like Chase from Zoey 101 (but a few more freckles) but had a paper of math equations he did for fun!
Friday was pretty uneventful except for a late bus. I was watching the bed auction as ended around 5PM. Someone came by at that time and I had to assist her. I was so glad when she left, fortunately I won. Later we went Walmart and I got some bedding for the bed. Wasn't totally happy with what I got (wrong color sheets, didn't need "Cars" blanket.)
Saturday AM, went to the other Walmart. Able to get just the bedding I wanted. I also got cheap treat bags for Alan's party and a pinata.
So Alan has a waterproof mattress pad, 1 complete set of Cars twin sheets, a nice blue "Velux" blanket, a complete set of light blue twin sheets and a navy/light blue comforter. I came home, went to the library and then to Ikea (alone). Got Alan a mattress and a TV stand for our room. There was some mixup between Mark and myself - he thought I was coming back after the library and Mark had to get to the post office by 12:00. But we resolved things. Later I cleaned up a ton of papers from the dinning room table. It almost looks like a table now. I also straightened some of my drawers and packed away some summer stuff. Ran out again to get $ and a battery for the cordless phone in the house,
When that was all done, we went to my MILs for dinner (beef stew). On the way, we stopped to find a carton for Mark to return a defective printer. Behind the Hollywood Video store, we saw someone trashing video tapes into a dumpster. Apparently video tapes are no longer made as of 3 months ago and Hollywood is getting rid of theirs. I was surprised they were destroying them and not selling them off cheap. Unfortunately the ones there didn't look interesting, or I would have asked if I could have one.
After dinner I went with my SIL to help her find a shirt she'd forgotten while shopping earlier with my MIL (she doesn't drive). She ended up finding the shirt, and I got a cute pink shirt and brown corderoys - I also got a white turtleneck for Alan.
Today I went to pick up the bed. In pieces it just fit in the Cavalier with the back seat folded down. The people selling it were nice. They noticed the thyca sticker on my car and asked who had thyroid cancer. Me, I said. Turns out they knew someone who had it. They couldn't see my scar :)
When I got home Mark and Alan were out doing the fruit market/big lots/dollar tree run. So I assembled the TV stand. Discovered I needed more cable TV cable to finish the job. After they came home, we headed over to the USS Ling and met up with a few people from my Star Trek group. We walked around - it's a very homemade museum. We skipped the submarine tour as Alan would be bored though. We headed off afterwards to Liquidators. We got cool Polish fruit juice (very good, we'd had it before), hummus chips as well as the cable tv cable and a clip on lamp for Alan's bed. After returnning home I went to work assembling the bed. By 8 PM, everything was finished - see the photos in my previous post.
Alan didn't stay in the bed tonight, he ended up coming in with us. He's also got a cough, not sure why. I ended up getting up and deciding to peek at the Gymboree stuff before bed (I went to bed about 11:30 originally, before this entry was done). I'm disapointed as the really cute train vest only goes to 3T. Alan's a 4T. Oh well, I do like burgundy and gray so that's what he'll wear for photos and other near Xmas dressy occasions.
