Books Read
Feb. 11th, 2007 09:41 pmFinished two more books recently, both from the town library sale.
Riding in Cars with Boys was the first one I read. It's the story of a single mother (a bit of a free sprit) raising her son in the 1960's through 1980's. It was quick read but interesting. It was made into a movie with Drew Barrymore (which I haven't seen) but I could see her as the lead role.
The Guy Not Taken was the next one I read. It's by Jennifer Weiner. It's a collection of short stories she's written over the years. Some were very good, but the title story left me feeling a bit odd. It does fall into the "chick-lit" category, but I find for the most part her characters are likeable and realistic and the plots hold your interest.
Puppet is the current one I'm reading. I liked Joy Fielding's first novel See Jane Run and have read other books by her. But I'm having a hard time with this one. Despite it's interesting settings of Palm Beach, Florida and Toronto, Canada - the main character Amanda Travis leaves me somewhat cold, she's not someone I particularly like. But I'll probably finish this one on the bus tommorrow.
