Saturday morning I took my car to get a photo inspection for my new insurance (a photo is required for collision insurance). I'm switching from Palisades to Geico. Oddly enough Geico is what I had before I moved to NJ in 1998, but since they didn't write policies in NJ at the time, they referred me to Palisades. Unfortunately the garage's camera was broken, so I have to come back. On the way back I stopped at a local children's consignment shop and got some stuff for my friend's baby due in May. Anyway, while I was there - my cell phone rang. It was DH - he'd managed to get the seatbelt tangled so he couldn't put Alan in the car seat. I managed to get him to move the seat to the middle, rather than me drive 20 minutes to where he was. I still don't know what he did, and I haven't attempted to fix it.

Later we attended a birthday party for Alan's classmate. She has a dog, which Alan knew about and was scared of (a very old mellow Golden Retriever named Bandit). But when he ignored the dog, he was fine and had a good time. This was a just have a bunch of kids and parents over party - nothing fancy, which is good. They did do pin the tail on the donkey and a pinata.

After that we went to Charlie Brown's with friends. Alan didn't eat much as he was full from lunch and the birthday party where he had a hot dog and some ice cream cake. We had a nice time. Afterwards we came home and the grownups watched some videos - Dinosaurs, a documentary on the Turtles, and part of the first episode of Saturday Night Live. I don't think I saw that episode but had seen bits of over the years on clip shows.

Sunday started out ok. We worked on a project for Mark's client - researching media contacts. Alan was busy with TV, but we turned it off after he had wet pants from not using the toilet. He was very demanding and attention seeking the rest of the time. We did get to Walmart where I got my car's oil changed and we looked at glasses. We got out pupilary distance measured and priced glasses. But when we got home, Mark ordered his new bifocals at Zenni Optical. But we still had more work to do. I was in the bedroom, Mark in the living room. Alan wouldn't leave me alone, he was very clingly, whiny and demanding. I eneded up locking the bedroom door so I could work. Alan got upset and eventually cried himself to sleep outside my door :( But he needed the sleep (we put him in his bed eventually).

Yesterday was a good day though. It was Alan and I. We first went to a local shoe store and got Alan new Super Ball Sneakers.

Yes, they were $54. But he likes them a lot! We then went to Target where I got him dress pants and a t shirt, khaki's for me (but I got the wrong color, need to exchange), a Thomas book and a sleeper for the baby. Then we hit Gymboree and Gap. Got things for Alan in both, and some baby stuff in Gymboree that was cheap. In Gap Alan sat next to 2 girls with Ninendo DS's for a while as he's fascinated with them. They didn't mind. Then we got DVD's at Staples and then off to Goodwill. Found 2 pair of pants for Alan there, some books and one cute outfit to eBay. Alan was a bit bored there, but he knew we were getting lunch next. Then off to McDonalds with a playground and Catscratch toys. Alan had fun. We then went home. I tried to make these Crayola Donuts I'd gotten in Dollar Tree sometime back. They didn't go that well and remained uneaten by Alan. Now I know why there were there!

But all in all a good day after Sunday.

Got to run to get ready for work!

Our family has 2 dressy events in the next few months.

DH and I have a bat mitzvah in March to go to. It's split over 2 days - the temple ceremony is a Saturday morning with the reception/party on Sunday afternoon. (Alan wasn't invited to this one alas).

Then in June we all will be invited to my cousin's son's bar mitzvah. The ceremony and party will be in his backyard. (He lives in an upscale town and is high up in a brokerage firm).

I need to find things to wear for all 3 occasions. I also need to figure out what Alan should wear. On top of that, Alan has picture taking at both schools sometime this Spring. The ones in the daycare usually comeout well, the public school not so well. So I might dress him for daycare (maybe the same outfit as the Bar mitzvah?)

Any suggestions? I'm a size 12 and Alan is a size 4.

(I'm not asking for DH, he'll wear a suit, I'll just make sure he's got a clean pressed shirt - not an old worn one!)

I might have to do a day trip to Wilmington Delaware for work on Friday. Alas, I wouldn't be driving so I can't visit anyone or make any stops :( Maybe the trip can be rescheduled so the original person from our group can go.

Ate at IHOP tonight for National Pancake Day. 3 Short stacks (1 for each of us), a diet coke and a juice. Cheap eats. Alan didn't eat his pancakes though.

While everyone was doing their thing tonight we smelled something burning (like a BBQ). Checked the kitchen, nothing on. Ended up checking in the hall and found out the neighbor across the hall left something on while out. Managed to smell up the whole condo building, but not set off the fire alarm? No harm done to their apartment either.
