Sigh

Busy crazy days for me this week with client fix and other software deadlines. And on top of it I have Alan's class trip & Halloween. So instead of 2 days off, I'll take parts of 2 days off.

Got my car inspected Saturday. I'd forgotten it was due, so I was up at 6:30 in the rain to go to Motor Vehicles. When I got there I couldn't find my license. So they inspected it anway, but failed me for having no license. I went home and found it WAS in my wallet (wrong spot) the whole time. So I went back and had to wait in a longer line again. At least they just updated the inspection record and not do the tests again. (They didn't have a reinspection only line.) I am always glad when I pass inspection. My old 1984 Escort always had trouble with emissions - I took it to the dealer to get it inspected back then. (Then at 96K miles, they recalled it for emissions!)

We also went to a local model train show (just vendors) on Saturday. One vendor gave Alan an old souvenir book from Disneyland (from the 50's or 60's) - he was leaving the hobby and there was a sign on the book it was for a child only. Sadly, Alan prefers Nickleodeon to Disney, but we took it anyway. We also ate at a new buffet (an old one - Bon Buffet - with new management). But Alan doesn't seem to eat much at them anymore except dessert :( (I think we'll stick to our usual one, Lodi Buffet with the fish tank!)

Yesterday was Alan's last soccer game of the season. We finished with an amazing 8-0 record. This was the only cold weather game of the season and we didn't have any rainy days. Alan didn't score any goals all season - he did get one save in goal though. He had fun, but some of his fun was digging with sticks or making robot machines by sticking branches in the tree by the field. He does want to play again next year - hopefully we can keep most of the nice kids (and some talented ones) that we played with - including the coach. There is an end of season party on Nov 11, I think everyone gets a trophy or award. Even though the leagues for ages Pre-k, k and 1-3 aren't competitive, it would be nice to get recognized for being undefeated. (We mostly won on the strength of having the ball most of the time, no finess at this age - and only one close game all season)

I packed up our outside stuff yesterday - it was going to freeze last night. Still haven't quite switched my summer/winter stuff around (Alan's is done). I also did some work in the morning, went to the store briefly with Alan in the afternoon (he was very good there, sticking with me, not running off - he is maturing). Later I did a ton of laundry.

All in all a calm weekend even if I never did get to cleaning the closet that urgently needs cleaning!

Got to get back to work - Alan and I are seeing my allergist tonight - he's getting a flu shot, I'm getting a checkup (I get a free flu shot via my work).
