I know yesterday's blog was lame. I had no time to write and even DH wasn't giving much of a break. But I did manage to get a clean dental checkup, have someone see our car, attend a 6 year olds birthday party (and meet new nice adults and kids) and rush off to print out photos at the Shoprite supermarket for Alan's class project. I was yet again reminded that HP printers do not work well with compatible ink cartridges - I changed my ink and the colors turned awful :(
Tommorrow I get to read a book to Alan's class. We have a few possibilities including a Hot Wheels book and a Max and Ruby book. I just wanted him NOT to bring the "Look Inside My Body" anatomy book he loves - it has a minor reference to sexual organs and I don't know at the kindergarten age how much other parents and the teacher want to get into those kind of discussions yet. I am also bringing store-bought cupcakes and juice boxes. It makes me sad that I can't make cupcakes at home for him (due to school rules due to allergic kids) - I'm not a baker really, but I could have a little fun decorating.
Alan had his flu shot tonight at the allergist ($30). He did fine - not even a whimper. I am pretty sure the nurse was as gentle as the one we had at my office. I got mine there as my employer paid for it. I suspect it's cost effective to pay for some flu shots vs. the time lost due to illness.
It's such a relief to have a car available again. It seems to have improved my mood a bit, a little less blue and tense these days.
I STILL haven't done the thank you cards from Alan's birthday party on 10/18. I need to do them ASAP. I don't expect him to do 20+ cards this year, hopefully by next year he'll do some of them. I also need to include CD's of photos for 2 former daycare classmates as I have photos of the kids over the 2 years of nursery school together. I'd really like to keep a relationship with at least one of classmates - they were very close during their time together.
I wonder why Alan's school has me sign and return his tests. So far he's had 2 100's and 1 80 (one question he missed, one I thought was tricky) - nothing to complain about at all. I guess this makes sure the parents look at them? His report card was fine also - he has some minor behavior issues - but I think they are from being excited and enthusastic - not bored or having ADD. Every day I see how much he's grown and learned - he spots "popcorn words" (usually called sight words) like my and the all over the place - on the computer, on the TV, in books - I think he'll be reading soon enough!
Anway, it's probably time for me to crash and not ramble. Lots of work needs to be done for work tommorrow, I'm still in catchup mode these days :(
