Twas the night before Black Friday.....
Nov. 27th, 2008 10:38 pmI was trying last night and early this AM to get online to Gymboree to use a coupon + 30% off sale. Finally when I had chance to get online without DH looking I couldn't find the coupon I bought off eBay for Gymbore/Crazy8 to use online - I kind of freaked as I was so frustrated that I couldn't go online without being bothered by someone or asked to something and now I'd lost the coupon which ever-so-helpful DH said was on the floor. It did show up on the bathroom floor where I'd dropped it at one point last night. I did start to place my order - then we had to go out - a friend of DH's invited us to play football in a game with his brother's family and their friends. Alan had a good time although he doesn't know much about football. We left, checked out a local deli/market and went home. I did manage to finally place my gymboree order but 1 item I'd wanted was sold out - I did get a bunch of the sale fleece for next year for Alan (I didn't see the coat sale advertised for 14.00 - think it sold out in the early morning, although they weren't wintery coats anyway). I did look at Crazy8, saw the jeans I would have liked were sold out - we then went out to A&P (to get some fancy gelato I had free coupons for) and checked out the K-mart next door. I was glad to find snow boots for Alan finally (Hot Wheels boots in size 1 for 19.99, one of the better prices) - and Alan and DH found a 10 pack of Hot Wheels and a track set - each 1/2 off (I was planning to get him a different track tommorrow @ Target, I may do so anyway).
(By the way, the Tricky Track sets for Hotwheels that fold up, are actually quite good - the work easily, they connect to each other, they fold up and should fit back in the box (unless you are like Alan and rip the box!)) They are better than some of the larger track sets.
We then went to my MILs where DH's uncle was. Sadly DH's sister doesn't get along with the uncle, so it was just us. He misses his SO but it was nice to spend time with family. (We did have to run home for a change of clothes for Alan as he had an accident and I had no spare...but it was only 15 minutes each way to do that, and now each car has a spare set of clothes in it.)
We watched a DVD DH's uncle had of the Durango - Silverton Railroad in Colorado. DH had taken a trip on it (with his late SO) and had found this commercial DVD. Sadly, the picture quality was blurry on the HD TV my MIL has - even Alan complained about it - he thought it was his eyes. But beautiful scenery in the Colorado Rockies.
I probably should crash soon as I plan to head out early tommorrow. We don't need anything big or really do many gifts, but I find there are a few things I like every year on Black Friday. I usually circle a local shopping loop and stay away from the big malls on Rt's 4 and 17 that will be a zoo.
It's funny, one store that I usually don't hit on BF is Walmart. Not for political reasons, but despite the fact their are two stores within about 20 minutes - in all the time they've been open here, we never get a flyer in the mail or our paper. I've gotten stores further away than Walmart (K-mart is only slightly closer and we get them on Black Friday, my MIL gets them all the time and isn't that close to her either).
