lesliepearLast night I stepped on something on the floor (wasn't sure what). Disinfected/bandaged the foot and stayed off of it. I couldn't see anything because of the angle and Mark isn't good at these things.
This AM I stepped out of bed ... ow! So after dressing Alan and showering/dressing, I had Mark take Alan to daycare and I went to the doctor. There turned out to be something there, so they had me soak in betadine for a bit. (They actually used a clean bottom of the container they put discarded needles in, good thing I have a small foot.) Then she tried to get it out. OW! She tried one numbing thing, helped a little, then another one and it was better enough so she could get it out. It was a piece of glass. I did have 2 different glass items break on the floor in the past 4-5 months, I must have somehow missed a tiny fragment in cleanup. I felt like a bad patient after my csection/thryoidectomy/RAI to be yelping for a little piece of glass. (Fortunately I had a teanus shot in 1998, so that wasn't needed).
I'm ok, walking ok. I did get a note from the doctor to wear sneakers for 5 days. Why did I do that - because of the stupid dress code here. I do need to talk to HR about our insurance re my visit to Sloan Kettering and I didn't want to cause trouble going in sneakers.
