I think what a lot of people don't understand in the Tom Cruise vs. All Mother's case, is that it may not have been Tom Cruise talking.

He *is* a rather vocal follower of certain belief system, which some (http://www.xenu.net/) say is a dangerous cult that brainwashes its victims and teaches them that religions like Christianity and sciences like psychiatry are personally dangerous and must be avoided or destroyed.

A specific tenet is that all prescription drugs are evil. This is, I suspect, their way of their drip on their followers... by teaching them that the very things that could help them break free of the cult are the evil things they must avoid.

So, Tom's statements may be the result of brainwashing getting the better of him before his handlers could bring him to heel.

But, before you dig into beliefs he practices, be warned ahead of time that other followers of the same belief have been accused and tried for very dangerous actions they have taken against others they believe are trying to suppress their cult.
