If you can't get him to eat more fiber in veggie or fruit form, then try substituting the tasteless stuff from Metamusil once in a while in his drinks. He won't notice the taste and it's certainly healthy. Have you tried giving him dried prunes and craisins? They taste great and if you tell him it's candy or a snack, he might be more inclined to try it.
