Weekend Update Time
Aug. 25th, 2003 10:13 amAnother busy weekend.
Saturday was Family Fun Day in our town. So we walked to the nearby park to check it out. We bought .25 cent hotdogs and soda and gave Alan bits of hotdog (tiny bits so he wouldn't choke). He loved it. There weren't any rides for him except the choo-choo train that drove around so we rode on it with him. We showed him the petting zoo and we let him taste cotton candy and a snow-cone. We saw our sitter's family there and said hello. Later we went to a Italian grocery that has good fruit and bread. Alan loved the bread we gave him (roasted garlic) as well as the canteloupe bits.
We have a town resident who is very opposed to town government. He is the largest landlord in town. So yesterday he threw his own party on his property for town residents. It was across the road from the park with the fun day. The guy is short and bald with large glasses, he looks like a cartoon character. He served tons of food - clams, shrimp, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, corn, slushes, cookies, soda (catered by an expensive steakhouse), and had a band and some giveaways of stuff. We probably won't vote for him as another friend of ours knows he hangs with some shady people, but Alan would :) Then we went to the fireworks. Alan was not scared (we were very close, right next to the man made pond they shot them into) - he seemed to like the colors.
Sunday we went again to the Englishtown flea market and met up with a friend. Alan was a very good boy just looking around (except he spit up all over his shirt). We all got a little red alas as I didn't put sunscreen on. (Alan's a little red on his cheeks). I did find longsleeve onesies for Alan but that's about all we got.
Then we went to Old Country Buffet. Alan was good there and ate lots of stuff. He loved lima beans and would stuff them into his mouth himself! He loves to eat, except due to the lack of teeth it takes him longer to chew. Actually, Alan probably ate more bits of stuff than some people would at a buffet!
