Friday night: DH, Alan, I and our friend Dave went to the new Ikea. DH and Dave kept showing Alan all the various stuff animals in the children's section. Alan didn't seem that interested (maybe he was tired). Dave got a few items, I spotted a dresser I'd like to get for storage in the living room once Inky's relocated and things settle down. It does look like a cool place to take Alan to play when he's a little bigger.

Saturday: We went to the "afruf" for our friend (a pre-marital jewish blessing). We tossed candy at him (missed, everyone fortunately missed). Then we left and went to my MIL's and hung out. We then stopped at our friends house and met the bride's visiting relatives from Argentina - mother and brother. The brother (who we'd met before before Alan was born) has a beard. Alan cried when he held him - maybe he didn't like beards. The mother, who doesn't speak English, adored Alan (and the bride does also).

Sunday: Went to visit my grandmother in NYC. We had Chinese for lunch - Alan loves chicken with stringbeans and brown rice and even a little soup! My grandmother gave him icecream at home, I took photos.

Monday: Our plans to go to a street fair were rained out. So DH stayed home. I went to Gymboree. I intended to buy a girl's birthday gift for my gymbucks. But didn't find anything I liked in the right size. So Alan got a bunch of stuff! We then went to Target where I found something. Its nice to get to buy girls stuff for a change.

Today: Rain. Blech. One of Alan's shirts didn't come back from daycare last week. I took the same shirt with me today in a bigger size to show Nadia..But she'd found the shirt over the weekend. (I liked these shirts enough to have it in 2 sizes in short sleeve and 1 size in longsleeve!) Alan was babbling quite a bit - I wish I knew what he wants to say! I went to Old Navy at lunch today to get some basic socks. Why is it always hardest to find whatever size Alan is? They were just about out of 12-24 month socks. I also got fleece booties for him. I figure I can try these to get him to wear shoes (too keep his feet warm).

Are you getting tired of "yeoww" comments? This is what happens when I have to catch up and my lj friends post good stuff!

We just had a new Ikea open up in a neighboring town. The traffic was so bad that they had to hire extra police officers just to monitor traffic! I have never been to an Ikea but I have a feeling it would be addictive. I love organizers, shelving - anything that helps to reduce house clutter.

When kids get older it's even more difficult to make sure all their clothes come home from daycare or school. Even now that just drives me crazy - bringing home one sock, or never being able to find that missing jacket...

I think one of my friends on my friends list just went to the new Ikea by you and liked it.

We had to get extra police here too when it opened, but it wasn't that crowded when went on Friday at dinner time.

Since Alan is littlest person at Nadia's house it is usually pretty easy for them to figure out what's his (the only other boy is in college). And the stuff does seem to come home to me eventually.
