This is a photo of our complex (not our building) so you can see Georgie's fall.

If you can't use the link, go to realtor.com and search on 07643, it's the second listing. We live on the bottom floor, Georgie's parents live on top. (but you can't see the detail of the bars on the railings).

There are lots of buildings like that in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.

Ouch!! Poor kid! Any word on how he's doing??

Totally off topic, I got the package on Saturday. THANK YOU!! Such cute outfits! I especially like the little khaki pants ;-)

Enjoy the outfits. Some of the stuff was just wrong size wrong season for Alan and he didn't get to wear them.

We ran into the father last night coming and going. He said Georgie would be ok. We plan to visit when we can - probably when he's home.

Cool :) Thanks again!

I'm glad that it looks like he'll be okay. So are they thinking that the sister might have thrown the him over?

I guess they have to investigate everything since it was a fall from such a high place and she was apparently watching him. I was surprised there was so much investigation here...when Alan fell they sent 2 cop cars and that was it - they never called us or anything - I guess they didn't have a problem with him falling out of an unstrapped high chair (since babys go in highchairs all the time). (I'd think since it was a sitter, they'd follow up though - we didn't report the accident to the county office for children where we got her name from, it was an unfortunate accident as far as we are concerned.)

Haven't seen the sister since Sunday, but we had only seen her on theweekend for a while. I don't think she can live with her mom, we thought she might be in a 1/2 way house or something as she had been hanging out with the wrong crowd a few years back.

Wow... That whole situation is really sad.

I've gotten the impression, over the years, that there are "normal accidents" and there are accidents that get investigated. I gathered this from doing daycare, being accident prone and watching ER. ;-) Oh, and a good friend of mine is a pediatric forensic nurse.

Once my sister locked me out of the house on purpose when I was a teenager. I tried to slide a bedroom window open, I put pressure on the wrong part of the window, it cracked, and my wrist was slit. This was an accident that got investigated. Luckily when a large peice of glass fell- it landed on my foot. The glass in my shoes, and small cut on my foot validated my story. Oh- and the broken window at home. None the less, I was handcuffed to the gurney for a good long while!

I've seen or heard about probably 6 babies falling out of highchairs. Lillian's done it too. So, I figure it's a more common accident.

Off topic here - but $184,900 for a 1BR 1BA condo?!!! I'd have to live in a cardboard box if that is what an average home costs where you live. Wow...

And ours is a two bedroom - over 200K (DH paid 116K for it in 1992!).

Welcome to the overinflated world of Bergen County Housing prices. This is why I whine a lot about not having a house in my LJ. I think only Seattle and Silicon valley are higher!

Hee, I was thinking the same thing. My parents have a six-bedroom, 2-bath, 2-kitchen house in the country with a small lake in the back, and it's appraised at around $50k. Of course, it's also ugly as sin, and it's on a dirt road... but I'd still rather live there than in the city. ;)

I'm just getting caught up, so I'm just now reading this. Wow, how awful.

On a completely unrelated note, I have a friend who lives on your street, in a condo complex that I believe used to be a bus station or something like that. Not that it matters, but it's a small world.

I know exactly which complex you mean. I pass it daily taking Alan to daycare. It's about 1/4 - 1/2 mile south of me :)

Small world indeed.
