Alan watches Sesame Street on Channel 13 (WNET tv) from 7 to 8 on weekdays.

This week is PLEDGE week. Not only are the pledges annoying, but they mess up my time keeping - normally Elmo's world starts at 7:40, this week its 7:30 because of the pledge stuff at the end.

I'm not giving. Its not that I'm opposed to public tv or can't afford it. I have a beef with the channel 13 schedule. Sesame Street used to be followed by Arthur which I liked (not sure about Alan, but he'd put up with it). This fall they changed it to Cyberchase. Cyberchase is definitely for older children than Sesame Street - I think it's for early elementary kids as it covers match concepts. At 8 AM most of those kids would be on their way or at school. Alan gets bored with cyberchase. I think they'd do better putting on a cartoon for younger kids, even (ACK!) moving Barney from 6:30 AM. (I can flip to Disney channel which has the wiggles on, but I only recently learned that).

Maybe I should e-mail them a complaint.

I've caught myself watching Cyberchase with Dustin (He's 8 so he enjoys it more than a toddler would). It's really neat how they solve math problems. I've even asked Dustin questions about how they do some of the things on there. Geesh.

Amy <-- Should be in remedial math.

Exactly my point

Most 8 year olds are in school at 8 AM. So why show a cartoon aimed at them at that time.

Yep, I see your point on it.

Your complaint will mena nothing without a check attached. They make programming changes like that based on requests from people making pledges and donations.

A bribe?

So do you think I could bribe them to put something else on at 8 AM :)

Disney just changed the wiggles too. They are still on at 8, which is during our breakfast, but they took off the 9 a.m. one. Errgg.... it's the only show Ethan seems to like. That and Blue's Clues, but that's new.

We leave for daycare shortly after 8 (sometimes closer to 8:30, I am to lazy to leave before 8).

I wish they'd make some new Sesame Streets too (35 years of the show and they seem to repeat the same group of episodes over and over...) But I know that's beyond channel 13's control.

There's a show on Noggin called Sesame Too. I have no idea why it's called that, but it's Sesame Street. I think there are newer episodes, because the people actually look older.
Our PBS airs new SS episodes Monday at 10 a.m. They may be new, but it's the same stuff. But it's new to Ethan and Alan!

Hmmm

Channel 13 doesn't say anything about new stuff.
I don't get Noggin :(

I really get annoyed by public television pledge periods. My first response to pressure is to do the opposite!

In our area the kids' scheduling gets changed all the time with no notice. Now that my kids prefer Nickelodeon it's not such an issue. But I remember when "The Big Comfy Couch" just disappeared from the morning schedule to be replaced by "Zoom", I think it was - also for older kids. My kids, who were toddlers at the time, were very unhappy. I did write the TV station, but to no avail.

I pledge to WGBH, but I still avoid the channel during pledge week because I can't stand the "give us money" drone.

With our cable system, I can "force tune" channels, and so I have pre-programmed the morning for our little angels. Lately they've really been getting a kick out of Jojo's Circus on Disney.

I tried that

I don't think Alan cared for it much. But since it's pledge week, I'll leave on the 7-8 programming of JoJo,Stanley and the wiggles.
