Alan watches Sesame Street on Channel 13 (WNET tv) from 7 to 8 on weekdays.
This week is PLEDGE week. Not only are the pledges annoying, but they mess up my time keeping - normally Elmo's world starts at 7:40, this week its 7:30 because of the pledge stuff at the end.
I'm not giving. Its not that I'm opposed to public tv or can't afford it. I have a beef with the channel 13 schedule. Sesame Street used to be followed by Arthur which I liked (not sure about Alan, but he'd put up with it). This fall they changed it to Cyberchase. Cyberchase is definitely for older children than Sesame Street - I think it's for early elementary kids as it covers match concepts. At 8 AM most of those kids would be on their way or at school. Alan gets bored with cyberchase. I think they'd do better putting on a cartoon for younger kids, even (ACK!) moving Barney from 6:30 AM. (I can flip to Disney channel which has the wiggles on, but I only recently learned that).
Maybe I should e-mail them a complaint.

Date: 2003-12-01 01:19 pm (UTC)I wish they'd make some new Sesame Streets too (35 years of the show and they seem to repeat the same group of episodes over and over...) But I know that's beyond channel 13's control.

Date: 2003-12-01 01:46 pm (UTC)Our PBS airs new SS episodes Monday at 10 a.m. They may be new, but it's the same stuff. But it's new to Ethan and Alan!

Date: 2003-12-01 04:47 pm (UTC)In our area the kids' scheduling gets changed all the time with no notice. Now that my kids prefer Nickelodeon it's not such an issue. But I remember when "The Big Comfy Couch" just disappeared from the morning schedule to be replaced by "Zoom", I think it was - also for older kids. My kids, who were toddlers at the time, were very unhappy. I did write the TV station, but to no avail.

Date: 2003-12-02 03:06 am (UTC)With our cable system, I can "force tune" channels, and so I have pre-programmed the morning for our little angels. Lately they've really been getting a kick out of Jojo's Circus on Disney.
I tried that
