Chanuka starts tonight. I set up my menorah and other stuff. I wish I could drag myself to Bed Bath and Beyond to get the Chanuka door ribbon they had. Maybe maybe on the way home for a second.

I do make it a point to buy Judiaca from companies this time of year to support their efforts. I used to buy Avon's chanuka item every year when I sold (and I ordered it this year). One year they were way off...sabbath candles and mezzuahs - not channuka gifts, and you either have them or not. It was kind of like selling crosses that you mount on the wall - how many can you have? 1 pair of candles and one mezzuah per door is what people have. Fisher Price's Little People came out with a Channuka set. It isn't 100% realistic but just the thought of it was neat. So I got it for me - and eventually ALan.

I set up a little display with my electric menorah - the fisher price set, some other dreidles I have, a chanuka bear I got (actually at a fundraising rummage sale for a catholic hospital of all places) and put my channuka table cloth under it. I'll have to take a picture of it. I'm really limited as to where to put stuff, lack of room and I need it away from Alan. I even left my candle menorah stored away (I don't light the candles anyway, my mom had an accident with a kitchen curtain and a lit menorah once).

Wish I felt better.

Happy Chanuka, Leslie! Dreidle, dreidle, dreidle is going through my head now.
Your display sounds lovely. The LP set sounds charming. It's gonna be a LP holiday around here. Natalie already had the train, got the bus last night from her daycare provider, is getting Noah's Ark from her auntie (for which I've also bought the extra animals). I had the farmers market selected as a gift but took it back, it's already gonna be a LP extravaganza!

Not much LP yet

Alan got the LP bus for his birthday, but its not out yet. I may open it when I get the target bins put together.

I have a little tikes fire truck handmedown that I'd like to find people for. I ordered from the website, but they are the newer people and don't fit.

Here's a question:
I know translation is the same thing, but what is the story behind Chanuka and Hanukkah spellings?

No Idea

I know the "K/CH" sound at the begining of Hanukka doesn't have an exact match in English letters - it's a hebrew letter, maybe the CH/H was a guess at it. Or perhaps someone decided Happy Hanukkah looked better?
