Weekend Update + 1
Dec. 29th, 2003 11:22 pmSaturday we had our friend Dave come by. We went for Chinese buffet lunch. Alan ate better than he had been lately. We then stopped at Kmart (no deals), Corrados supermarket (got salad bags 3 for 1.00!) and a 99 cent store. Alan likes Dave and we all had fun. Later we went to Ikea so I could look for some furniture - didn't like anything. Alan liked the small ball pit (for ages 3 and under). I think he would have stayed ALL night. I got a cute 4 piece (cup, sippy lid, spoon and bowl) for Alan and 3 bottles of sparkling cider.
Sunday we ran to Compusa to get tax software. We also got fresh pasta from a really good place. I made terriaki chicken in my crock pot. Our friend Frank came over, put the drain in the shower in the master bathroom (finally). We also changed both shower heads to handheld ones. Still need kitchen molding/light done, but progress is good - both bathrooms are back in use now (although we need paint/wallpaper/light switches changed at some point).
Alan was funny Sunday. He used his walker by walking on his knees, he crawled holding his bottle in his hands and mouth using his elbows, and crawled around with a piece of bread in his mouth. He was in a good mood all day.
Today was busy. I got some stuff @ Target, exchanged stuff at Kohl's (but the new slippers don't fit), got some bigger stuff at KRU and then got together with 3 girlfriends and one baby (Alan's "cousin" Jeff) for lunch. We ate a dinner. Alan had milk, a bite or two of a grill cheese sandwich, some fries, a taste of coleslaw, and his favorite - a pickle (a whole one + a little more). He also loved rice pudding for dessert! We later took a walk in the park - Alan didnt like the swing (I got a photo of him in it). Saw someone with a baby sling (I don't see many around here) - told her it was great, but didn't work for me (fleece pouch next time). Alan fell asleep after we left my friends house and went to my MIL. Brought him in the stroller asleep. I left for the ob/gyn and came back - he was still asleep. (My MIL was babysitting as she is 5 minutes from the OB/GYN and my DH wasn't home yet). He was a bit cranky when awakened but within 5 minutes with juice and a burp or two, he was fine. He ate some beef ravioli and whole jar of baby carrots and milk and went to bed at the usual time. He's got his appetite - he had 2 rolls and juice for breakfast also!
I got Alan some play food for his toy kitchen I got him recently at Target (little basket with 24 items for 3.50 on clearance). I know it says 3+, but I thought he might like it. He just threw it all over. Oh well, I put it away for now.
My ob/gyn appointment was interesting. I'm fine, a little icky yeast infection. But she saw a lump on my neck and I need to get my thyroid tested (of course my health insurance changes in 2 days....) I also got a rx for a mamogram. My only previous was in 1997 when I was 35. At least I have the record of where it was done, if anyone needs it. (I couldn't do it at 40 or even 41 since I was pregnant or nursing).
And I answered a job posting e-mail and will be talking to a recruiter tommorow about it. I hope it might work out - it's listed as being in my county, no clue as to company/city.
