38 Week Appointment

I had my appointment today - it was "interesting"

The ultra sound was fine, baby is head down, face peeking out and is
estimated at 8.8 lbs (wow!) I realize the size estimates aren't always
right, but I think I won't have to be buying preemie size clothes (hope I
have enough 3-6 months, he may not take long to get into those...)
Although my DH and I were both early (6 weeks and 3 weeks), my SIL was 9
lbs - so there is a big baby gene there somewhere...

The doctor hinted I may need a c-section as in the baby may not fit out.
He's still high up and hasn't dropped. I only gained 1/2 lb this week.
I'm not thrilled about a c-section, but if it is for GOOD reason - I'll
deal with it. It would be weird to have a baby and not get to feel any
labor pain, I wasn't thrilled about my Lamaze class, but expected to use
some of it. (I've heard too many stories on the net of emergency
c-sections lately, I hope they aen't contagious.)

My blood pressure kept coming up "high" and they kept having me lie on
the table on the left side a lot..I think I was there at least 1/2 hour
before they sent me home - the #S I heard were something like 140/130
over 80/70...didn't seem THAT high to me. I go back Thursday afternoon
for a non-stress test and BP check - although we did schedule 2 visits
after that for the following Mondays - one with an ultrasound (I don't
think she wants me going over due - Monday the 21st is one day over).
Personally, I'd prefer that Alan wait till after the 15th - one last
weekend. I asked her if I should pack my bag - she said just in case. I
also just listed out everything that needs doing so we can see how we can
do stuff before Thursday. The biggest thing for me is to get to the mall
and get *1* nursing bra. The rest can be delegated or deferred. At least
I can pickup the OTSBH sling I ordered from La Leche league today.

She did say that I could have a flu shot when I see my allergist on the
14th (if I make it).

Any hints on how to keep BP down besides rest - I've heard to watch my
salt and drinking water is good. I also wonder if the pseudofed I took
this AM could have aggrevated it?

I told my boss about the results and that I'd miss a phone meeting on
Thursday...he's pretty cool about it - but he'd been prediciting I'd go 2
weeks more and Alan would be late. So I have to get some work done today
- I'll stick my feet up sideways and type (no laptop.)
