Buffets

My husband and I like to go to Hometown Buffet/Old Country Buffet periodically. (same chain, different names). The 2 nearest ones are about an hour away, and we think of "excuses" to be near them. It's been interesting watching Alan's progress with them - he's gone from sleeping through the meal, to stuffing himself with his hands (and feeding the floor also) - to think they DON'T charge for him!

Anyway, he likes their cheesecake. So DH got the idea to leave the small square for him. First he grabbed a tiny bit - then the handfuls got bigger, and yes some did end up in his mouth - a little too much sugar for him though :( But I did get a photo of it, he was so cute and he was even laughing!

We needed to vacuum yesterday. Since my vaccum s*cks (not in a good way), I dug out the vaccum that DH had before I moved in 1999. He vaccumed, but afterwards it had a smoky smell. He said it did that the last time I used it. I was doing laundry at the time, so after I finished that I checked out the vaccum. The bag was full, very full. (I wonder if he'd ever changed it). So we ordered new ones from eBay.

Then at bedtime, DH couldn't find his little toothpicky thing in the bathroom.
So I went to look in the other bathroom (temporarily occupied by Inky and not being used by us) and found it in a second. He was very happy.

I wonder what DH would do without me sometimes without my fixing things :)

Weekend

Kind of an ehhh weekend.

Saturday I stayed with Inky at a pet store to try to find her a home. It didn't go well. They didn't place any of their younger cats, and kids poked their faces into Inky's cage upsetting her to the point she started to get p*ssed off and even growled at a baby kitten in the next cage who was just trying to play with her tail. So she came home and back to the bathroom. DH watched Alan. He managed to just give him a bottle (no lunch) but was taking a nice long nap with him when I came home. Alan did get to play with his fisher price walker - if you stand him next to it, he will take steps with it. Unfortunately, its too light for him to pull up with - I guess if it were able to support his weight, it might be too heavy if it fell with him :(

Saturday night we took Alan to cheer up a depressed friend. We stopped at Whole Foods on the way. They had samples (yum) and for the first time I could share them with Alan - tuna salad/crackers (I gave him a tiny bit, it was good tuna salad) and salsa and chips (I gave him a tiny bit of chip, no salsa). On the way out of the store, we managed to drop the jar of pasta sauce we bought - yuck. But our friend was very happy to see Alan and we felt better for paying a visit.

Sunday we went to my Star Trek club meeting (USS Avenger/Starfleet) at a bookstore after visiting the buffet. Alan was pretty good the whole time (especially since he'd had a lot of sugar with the cake). We let him pick the winning ticket at our 50/50 raffle, I think he liked it. For dinner we had Armor beef/noodles (prepared food). He loved that too - he was slurping the noodles. He was exhausted at the end of the day, so he slept straight throught the night. I wish I'd taken a photo of him this AM - he was sideways in the crib on his tummy, legs sticking out and his head on a crumpled quilt like a pillow!

I just saw someone post on one of the gymboree sale lists whom I knew 4-5 years ago on one of the cat lists.

So I e-mailed a hello :)

I know I have people in my friends list with older and younger babies. I have 2 small items to share:

Item 1: Gray Old Navy Cuffed Socks in size 3-4/Toddler. I grabbed the wrong size for Alan and washed them last night (cold water, dye/scent free detergent + oxyclean).

Item 2: 5.00 Enfamil (maybe for the Lipil version - it's home and I'm at work).

Let me know if interested.
