Better

I'm feeling a little better today.

I didn't get work done though. We have our company lunch today and I seem to the be the only one dressed up. I'm wearing a velour dress, my xmas lights necklace and earings (you might see the necklace in my icon).
No makeup because I'm sick. And I brought my digital camera.

Ironically I am pretty sure I was at the same restaurant for a different companies holiday party in 2000 (the last one I went to - 2001 NO JOB and 2002 MATERNITY LEAVE). And I wore the same dress. Isn't that weird (especially the restaurant, as there are 2 zillion restaurants in NYC). After the lunch, I'm going home. I have NO interest in drinking, even with co-workers. Even if I weren't sick.

This afternoon I have to pickup books at 2 libraries (ours is being renovated and the )(@)#(!()@ decided we'd be relocated to TWO "home" libraries, neither of which is convienent to me. And go to Kmart to return a garbage can and look for Elmo socks and a toy keyboard for Alan. (Kmart has the sesame street license, so when I do schlep there I look for stuff from sesame street).

WPLJ Radio in NYC tonight played a Christmas song by Darren Hayes off the Rosie Christmas album. I forgot the title, but I never knew Darren Hayes sang it (I dislike radio stations who forget to announce who songs are by). When I heard that, I thought of you :)

Let's see.
We had the company luncheon at the place I'd had my personal company last holiday party at 3 years ago. (My boss worked for that company also, but I do not think he attended the 2000 party, he may have been gone by then). Nice food. I managed to spill my diet coke right onto my lunch plate. But at least it wasn't on me. It seems our company sale is in the final stages ... hopefully it will be a good thing in the end. The company gave everyone nice fleece 1/2 zip jackets with the company logo on it - a nice present, fleece is always useful. (they said it was cheaper than a sweatshirt).

When I left, down the block on 44th Street is the BIG NYC Toys R Us in Times Square. I wanted to look for a keyboard for Alan. I found an American Idol one for 49.99 (not spending THAT much, like Alan cares about the brand) - didn't see anything else. He's hard to buy for, either its stuff I won't buy (Barney), stuff he doesn't get (stuffed animals) or stuff that's too old for him (lots of stuff). I did find a sale on wooden puzzles, B1G1F so I got 2 of them to put away - at least they are quiet. (He has one now, he'd rather play with the pieces - circle, square, triangle) than put them in the puzzle. So much for age 1+.

I then went home and headed to the 2 libraries I had to go to get books and stuff that was in from request. Got one book at the first library. At the second library found my favorite librarian from my "home" library (librarians relocated during library construction). Ended up taking out some CD's from their small collection and buying a for sale book in addition to my books on parenting I was picking up. I got written directions to my next stop, K-mart (didn't know how to get to it from the library. Returned the garbage can I didn't need. Went to luck for various stuff. Found a new winter coat for me and some Sesame Street stuff for Alan. Didn't find the Elmo socks I wanted.

Rant: I go to Kmart to get Sesame Street stuff because they have the license. I went to the sock department. No novelty Elmo socks. I saw white cuffed socks in a 4 pack with Elmo and Zoe on them. But 2 of the other socks appeared to blank. I don't go to Kmart to get Sesame Street brand stuff that doesn't have the characters on it - no sports stuff, no BLANK stuff - I can go to better and more convient places for that.

No luck with a keyboard either. The 20.00 one was bad. It just was - I don't want to spend a lot, but I want it to sound decent.

Back to the supermarket to get my Zoloft Rx. Some new pharamcist was there, and it hadn't been filled from yesterday..grrr..

The rest of the day was uneventful. Made some dinner, bathed Alan, put him to bed, put up chanuka stuff. Opened my new coffee pot. I'm not sure it takes standard filters. If it does, it stays. Otherwise I need filters (its a t-fal from amazon).

I hope we all feel better tommorrow. Alan got the sitters daughter sick (I think). I've told him not to share his next cold, please!
