Another one of those days
Dec. 30th, 2003 10:56 pmThis morning I spoke to the contact about the job. It did sound promising and he liked my resume, so perhaps it will lead to an interview (which hopefully won't waste my time like the last 3 I've been on). I also was trying to track down the mamogram I had in 1997 on Staten Island (fortunately my OB/GYN had a copy of my records from then and there was the mamogram report with phone #). I hope I can get it mailed and not drive to Staten Island.
Off to the mall for a bit of shopping.
Went to Gymboree (of course) and got a few things for next year.
Then to the watch place to get batteries changed.
Then to JC Penny and found some cute 3T things (they looked small in their Okie-Dokie brand). I got 2 cute printed long sleeved t's and one pair of plaid flannel pants that matched one of the shirts.
Then I went to the Gap. Alan started acting cranky like he needed a nap. Left the gap, walked, put a blanket over the stroller to make it dark, and eventually he snoozed.
Ended up near Bath and Body Works which was having a big sale. Stuff was 5.00, 4.00, 3.00, 2.00. Took 3 items from the 2.00 section. When I got to the register 2 items were NOT 2.00 and had been in that bin by mistake. But she gave them to me at 2.00 anyway (maybe because I said I'd just take the one that was). As I left, I briefly pondered the evil possibility of putting MORE stuff into the 2.00 bin - just kidding.
Went back to the Gap. Was at the register, and tried to find the gift card I had. Couldn't find it. So I left AGAIN. I then went to Old Navy. Found some stuff there for Alan and me. Went to the register, one item (a bright pink fleece for me - my color) was stained. So I left that.
At some point Alan woke up. I tried to go to Borders, we were both hungry. We ended up sharing chicken terriaki. A bit messy for Alan but he likes it. I did forget a fork and napkins on the way to us sitting down and Alan didn't like when I went back for them.
Headed out after lunch. Next to the watch place was a kiosk selling these puppets: www.sillypuppets.com. Alan seemed to like the "black" one with floppy hair, but then he pushed it away.
Then I went to the doctors for a thyroid blood test. I tried walking Alan around for a while. He didn't fall asleep. But we managed to get through the waiting and appointment just fine (one of the techs was happy to see him at last). He tried to play with some linking things they had -- didn't care if there were 2 other kids there playing with them, he was going to put them in the box!
I got home and I called about a thyroid ultrasound. They had an opening today at 5 (my insurance changes on 1/1 and I don't have a card yet). So I tried to call my MIL, phone was busy (she was on AOL). So I downloaded AIM and IM'ed her :). She watched Alan while I went for the ultrasound. It wasn't fun like a baby one but painless.
Came home, ate dinner, played with Alan a bit. Had quite the giggle fest and even let him put the play food in the basket (he liked it, cried when I took it away). I was just getting him settled for bed when Mark came in. Grrr.. But he took over and I went to the store to fill an prescription.
It was a long day :)
