Well, I passed the phone screen on Wednesday. So now I have an interview next Friday at 4 PM.
I've got mixed feelings.
The job is in lower Manhattan, close to but not near the WTC site. (It's on the east river side).
I worked at this company as a consultant and despised the boss I had - came very close to quitting the consulting firm, but they managed to dig out a GREAT assignment and get me to stay and not take the other offer of permanent employment elsewhere (which in the long term wouldn't have worked out - that company merged and project cancelled). I don't know if this person is still there :(
And there is the logistics of leaving early, on Friday in a suit (usually we are more casual Fridays).
I have another phone screen Tuesday night for something else, still in the city in midtown.
Still no luck finding anything in NJ.
At least with the loudest griper in our group on vacation this week its been mellow. Our acting boss, the CTO is pretty nice, but no one knows what the long term plans are.
And I would like the next employer to allow an occasional work from home and have a decent insurance company. It's not the self insurance of my current employer that I mind (they paid all of my in network thyroid surgery expense) but the third party company who runs it. They have the worst website. And do not allow appeals for going out of network. (Sorry, but somethings may just not be covered in network. And I am not calling every endocrinologist on your list to see which ones even dealt with thyroid cancer - endocrinologists cover lots of things, the insurer should keep that level of detail - actually my endocrinologist is listed as an internal medicine specialist?)
Anyway tommorrow I am off to the NJ children's museum with Alan. And some errands afterwards. And Saturday off to the Dutch Country and the B&B on the farm. Lots to try to do and pictures to take :)
