Jul. 16th, 2004 10:31 amHaven't posted much lately - its summer, we are busy.
Last weekend we went to Mark's uncle's campground. He and his SO have a very nice trailer (think very small mobile home, it doesn't go anywhere) in a campground in Northeast CT. It has a little lake, so Uncle Larry can sail his sailboat. Alan did better the second day, the first day he didn't really nap, he ended up falling asleep on the sailboat :) He also found somethings he really liked there - the gazebo at the campground, the purple plastic hoe someone left on the beach (he kept running back to it) and my uncle's golf cart - he just LOVED to sit in it and turn the wheel. He didn't do well in the water, I tried to get him to float in the water, he didn't like his face in it, so he ran out and slipped, getting his face in again. So I really wasn't able to get him in again the whole weekend. Hopefully his next water visit will go better.
Sunday we took a little ride to Norwich and saw the harbor there. Also found a nice goodwill where Alan picked out a tub of foam blocks for .99 cents (blocks were like new and it was a complete set).
On the way home we stopped at the famous Stu Leonard's. In the 80's it was considered a model business (it's a dairy/grocery) but the founder got into trouble for misweighing produce and he went to jail. It's still a cool store, but price I thought. We ended up just getting Alan some milk, me a soda and a tin of sucking candy.
We plan to go up again the weekend of 9/11 - there is an Italian festival in Norwich and I'd love to be out of NYC that weekend.
This weekend we're looking (finally) at Pocono houses Saturday (one of them is the little red chalet I posted here sometiem back) and Sunday seeing my grandmother in NYC. And Monday we get Alan's teeth checked (hopefully 4th attempt we can make it!)
