Kmart-Sears
Nov. 17th, 2004 10:39 amIf you haven't heard:

My husband thinks the guy who owns kmart is trying to make a holding company like Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway and is mainly interested in the real estate.
We have a few kmarts in Bergen county. Most aren't in great shape. Two of them were to be turned into Sears stores in early 2005 - both were in somewhat rundown areas. There is a Kmart in Paramus I've gone to (mostly for Sesame Street clothes for Alan as they used to have license, I don't think they have exclusivity now) - I doubt this would be a Sears as there is one in Paramus Park mall down the road. It's on a major road, so someone might want it.
My husband and I think that perhaps this guy might be looking at accquiring Toys R Us next?
I also wonder where it leaves Land's End which Sears bought in the past year or so. Perhaps they could take the kmarts too near existing Sears and make them Lands ends stores, carrying all the items (I know Sears no longer carries Lands End baby/toddler stuff).

Worst Toys of 2004

Sadly, Alan has one of them - he has the imaginarium FIRE truck which is basically the same as the police car they mentioned with the small dowels. I never thought of it as being unsafe, but he's pretty much out of the mouthing stage now at 25 months. Some of the toys like the carpet slider and trampoline thing do look VERY dangerous and there was one toy that seemed to promote a bit of violence.
