Chanuka

We are Jewish. We live in generally Jewish area, but our particular town isn't.
Alan is in a private daycare/preschool in town.
When I dropped him off today I noticed a small xmas tree in one corner.
My husband and I don't mind the secular aspects of xmas (trees, santa, lights etc) but I don't think either one of us cares for the religous (Jesus) aspects.
I asked his teacher if they had a menorah (they know we are Jewish) and they said no.

I'm pondering calling the director and asking if they have a menorah. If not, I'd be happy to donate one. I also just want to make sure they don't really go into Jesus that much in the holiday season. (Alan was watching Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer on video last night when I picked him up - that happens to be a favorite of mine anyway.)

Am I wrong in asking about a menorah?

This didn't come up last year as he was in a private home (non Jewish) and Alan wasn't old enough to notice.

I just spoke to the director and they were aware of Alan being Jewish. I told them I was fine with xmas stuff and that I'd donate a menorah and some chanuka stuff (books or perhaps the Rugrats movie). They were very nice about it :)

I've found groups for all other aspects of parenting but not that except for one kind of quiet newsgroup.

I know my icon has an Xmas tree in it - this was a photo taken at Mark's uncle's SO's family's xmas party last year. (She's not Jewish). I thought it was cute with me and Alan. I do need a new one or two of me and/or him don't I?

Took this of Alan tonight trying on a gymboree layette hoodie, which fits!

On the Menorah Donation

The store closest to my office where I am sure I can get one is Bed Bath and Beyond. Couldn't go today - rain and work kept me in.
So, I get home and what's in the mail - 20% coupon there :)
A good sign. Now to get one, I guess I'll get an electric one.
