Busy us

First super busy weekend in ages.

Saturday Am I got up to get the car inspected. I checked for newspaper in the Am, but the apartment door looked behind me, so I had to wake Mark up to let me in. So  Alan and I went off to the inspection staiton. It wasn't busy but Alan didn't seem happy waiting for the car while they checked it. But it passed. Then I exchange something at Sears and we rode the escalators there several times (he loves this). We hit a few yard sales as well as Dunkin Donuts (coffee for me, donut for Alan) and a flea market to benefit the local animal shelter. I got a few things at the flea market for Alan (spaghettio dish, crayons, hot wheels cars in a case and Patrick toy from Sponge Bob the movie). I also found a Marshall Crenshaw CD for Mark. Then my MIL came by and we were off again.

First stop was the newly reopened library which was having a book sale. Found a book on lunch recipies, Mark found the bottom line yearbook from 2003, and I got some books and a thomas video (borrowed all of them) for Alan. Alan fell asleep in the car after we left. Then we stopped at Whole Foods in Montclair on our way to our next stop. We got some lunch and I got a few things to bring back for my special diet next month for my thyca scan.  Then off to Vernona Park and the craft fair. Mark and I had our first in person date in 1998, so we always go. We walked around and then Alan played on the playground. Then home for dinner - Alan and I went to the supermarket for a few things, where he got his free cookie.

Then after dinner we went to a local carnival in Fairlawn. Our friends live across the street from the school it was at, so we walked around for a bit with them. Alan went on his first ride which was a little train. They don't really fasten the kids in, it has a little rope looped across and tucked in. It didn't look secure, but the ride goes very slowly. But one little boy got out. The first time, the operator put him, the second time he was removed. But Alan who sat in the front car seemed to like it. We didn't do anything else and then went home.

Today we decided to run errands with our friend Dave for company as his birthday is this week and he gets overlooked. So we hit the *new* Big Lots (first around here) and Dollar Tree. Then we had a lunch at a local burger/sandwich place. Alan didn't eat much alas. Then off to Best Buy where I finally got my Mp3 player - a creative zen micro open box special. So it was 140.00. (I also wanted to see the iRiver for 179, but they were sold out). Then to Compusa (where Dave needed something)/Petco (needed nature's miracle for the icky diaper pail) and Guitar Center for Mark and Alan to play the keyboards. Alan was very happy playing. He also like the bongo drums. I took a few pictures. Guitar Center is very laid back about letting anyone play things - sort of a try before you buy, even if you can't play a note!

Last stop was another 99 cent store known for frozen things.

Then home. We tried to get Alan to nap, no luck. So Mark and Dave and Alan went to the park to test out the t-ball toy we got at Big Lots. That wasn't much, Alan wanted to go on the playground instead. Then they walked across the road to the Oriental grocery to get fruit. They called me to come get them - they found a lot. It had also started to drizzle so I'm glad the got them. Alan managed to hang in there through his bath and even sung some songs as Mark was lying in bed with him - ABC song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Old MacDonald, and the Wiggle's Yummy Yummy. (He only sings before bed and it sounds slow, like he's running out of batteries). He crashed out pretty quckly, but he had a good day and was awfully good for no nap, even eating his spaghettios and watermellon.

I'm just waiting for the laundry to finish drying so I can crash out, I'm tired!
