Snowbound!

It looks like a winter wonderland out there - guess I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.

It's all my fault. I bought sleds for Alan at Target yesterday (at 75% off). The only one we had was a little toddler one (and that's at my MIL's house anyway).

I did run some errands yesterday, including getting gas - but Alan stayed home and took it easy (he may have a small cold).

We picked up the Pink Panther DVD's from the library - Alan loves the Pink Panther cartoons included in the set - and he likes the action parts of the movie he saw last night (The Pink Panther Strkes Back). Me, I loved the cartoons (they'd show them before a movie in college), not a big Pink Panther movie fan. But from what I saw remaking them with Steve Martin wasn't a good idea - yes Steve Martin can do the physical stuff, but Peter Sellers was one of a kind.

Alan saw a little of the news last night. Normally I don't let him, but I don't think people in the snow talking about snow is very harmful. I try to keep him away from gross violence and adult concerns. (Mark and I discuss financial stuff - bonds/stocks etc in front of him, and he does watch cartoon violence - we aren't perfect).

Maybe I'll finally get some stuff on eBay today - ours and a friend's I offered to sell for them as they have fallen on hard time. It's probably going to be a busy day for eBay in the Northeast - people browsing and people selling. I remember back in the blizzard of 1996, they said that was the highest usage internet day up to the point!

Off to go watch Sponge Bob with Mark and Alan.

Alan's public school program is off tommorrow as the public schools are closed due to snow.

I don't yet know if the daycare is open or not. The recording may not be updated till tommorrow AM.

So I either trudge to work in NYC, or Alan and I go sledding (I'll take a vacation day). I prefer the later, obviously.

I was watching Nickelodeon with Alan this AM. I noticed they had new Ninja Turtle toys out - I mentioned it to my husband...and I said Guess Why - because all the children who grew up with them are parents now (more or less the 80's generation).

Mark and I grew up in the late 1960's/1970's and the toys etc from our childhood are different. We've been showing Alan some of our childhood stuff recently - he's watched Wacky Races/Dasterdly and Muttley (late 60's cartoons), the Flinstones and Jetsons (which used to be on ALL the time it seemed). He also saw some Pink Panther cartoons the other day and this afternoon watched some of a Billy Joel concert video.

I wonder if it will be good or bad that he'll know more of our childhood stuff than the childhood stuff of his classmates.
