Eh

My microwave is still broken. They are waiting for a part (I think the magnetron...they wouldn't say). I said they should have loaner microwaves, she said take it up with Panasonic (no sense of humor alas). Hopefully they'll fix it so I can get it on Saturday - it's frustrating.

Tonight I want to take Alan to Paramus Park (mall) to hit Stride Rite and Gymboree. He needs shoes for spring/summer - good sneakers and a pair of water/land sandals. (I have a dressy pair I got 2nd hand). I need to get the pants for his spring photo next Thursday and I might get one of the dog shirts on sale. He's getting his photo done in a rugby shirt and pants, rather than shirt/sweater vest/dressy outfit as I have no other use for that kind of outfit, but this he'll wear again, and it will be safer for a long school day (at least thursdays aren't pizza lunch days!)

But, the condo had to turn the water off today. So before we go, I have to go home, run the water in the tub and reset the breaker. Mark doesn't know how to do this. At least this time, the condo says they'll replace the pool valve (which is why they turned the water off and last time it wasn't done).

Feel like I am in a rut lately. At least this Sunday we are going to the Englishtown Flea Market because it will be nice out. And seeing some people we haven't seen lately.

And last night Alan was in a very good mood. He went to the store with Mark and behaved well, ate 99% of a huge bagel (he gave the last bite to me, he always does...) and was pretty happy and cheerful. I even read him Curious George. If you think about it, parts of that story aren't politicially correct anymore - George smokes a pipe before bed for example. But he listened to the whole book. I keep telling him books are his friends, I really want to encourage him to read.

1. Friends: Who have you been good friends with for the longest and why do you think your friendship has lasted so long?

I guess my longest current friend is J. I met her through the Star Trek club we were in back in the mid 1990's on Staten Island. We were the only singles there. I didn't know at first she was gay - when I did find out it was a little bit of a shock, but we are just friends. I don't see her much now, but she's the kind of person who takes no sh*t from anyone and if I was in trouble she'd help and I'd help her with her 3 pets (I'm the godmother (adoption reference) to one).

2. Sex: Would you say you have a good sex life?

Well, we are happy with what we have. Our interest level is about the same and our priorities for it are about the same (we value intimacy over the act itself).

3. Music: If your life had a soundtrac, what 5 songs *must* be on it and why - what do they mean to you?

Don McClean American Pie - I remember this song coming out in 1972. WABC used to play it around 7:10 when my mom would come brush my hair. It still makes me think of being little growing up in Long Island.

MeatLoaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light - brings me back to sleepway camp in 1978.

Missing You by John Waitz - memories of driving back and forth to visit my post college boyfriend while this was on.

Life is a Highway by Tom Cochran - brings me back to working in Mandees when married to my ex. I just like that song a lot.

You Belong To Me - Vonda Sheperd (or any of the songs on the first Ally McBeal soundtrack) - listended to it on tape or Cd a lot travelling around during the time I'd left my ex and before I moved in with Mark. Just a symbol of my freedom then.

(There'd also have to be a Billy Joel song in there somewhere...can't pick one at the moment.)

4. Drugs: Have you ever done any drugs?

Illegal ones - just 2 puffs of pot (2 different times). Afraid to smoke it due to my asthma. No interest or clue how to try other ones.

5. Love: Do you believe in love at first sight?

Yes, it hasn't happened to me (except with Alan) but it's out there.

6. LiveJournal: Why did you start a livejournal?

Actually, I followed [livejournal.com profile] kimatha over from the list we were on. She met her husband
[livejournal.com profile] samham here. She posted more here then there, so I joined to read up. Then I just started writing around the time I was pregnant with Alan because I was bored with work.

Anyone else want to play?

Took Alan shopping tonight.
In summary - no luck at Stride Rite, Alan wasn't in the mood and the ones I liked were out in his size 11. Gymboree didn't have the pants. We discovered there was a Thomas World (as in Thomas the Tank Engine). Very tiny but had lots of stuff. Bought Alan some socks (never seen socks around). Got him out and checked out Disney (not much on clearance). Hit KB Toys found the James Push and Go I'd wanted forever (he has the Thomas and Percy, the 4th one - Sir Topham Hat is VHTF and not the same as the other 3 anyway)

(All of the images of this online are from australia or the UK....)

We went to Sears briefly, lots of clearance, Alan wasn't interested.

Then I decided to stop in the other Gymboree on the way home. It was totally quiet as usual at night. Alan watched TV and voila they had these pants in 3T:

to go with this shirt for his school photo

I would have prefered 3, but I think the wider longer crotched 3t's will work with the adjustable waist. Alan is thin, I've been buying 3's.

And this in person is quite ugly

It's just washed out looking and looks cheap. The other dog tees look similarily blah!

TGIF tommorrow!
