Tired. When Alan stays up too late it gets to be a chain reaction, I wind up staying up late and surfing. Maybe one of these days he’ll get to bed at a reasonable hour and not get wound up from being overtired.
Mark’s car didn’t start this AM. So he had me go out and look at it. My guess was either wet wires or the starter as it clicked and the battery had power (door light came on). Anyway AAA came quickly and jumped it. At least Mark realizes he needs to bring the car in for a tune up soon.

There was an interesting article in today’s Bergen Record on how children need to be re-exposed to nature. We are very busy taking Alan out and about on the weekends and have recently discovered Alan likes to hike. We have an overnight at Mark’s uncle’s campground planned (yeah, I was worried we wouldn’t go this year with my uncle’s SO being sick) and then the adventure of the cabin camping. Sometimes I feel myself reaching into my childhood with backyard gardening, a dad who liked to fish, and going to day and sleep away camp and sharing it with Alan.

I feel we are raising Alan more like our parents did in the 70’s than younger parents are – although we probably overuse TV, I stress the library and we don’t really do video games.

On the way to work this morning, I passed the HBO offices. They had people in Old Western costumes giving out flyers resembling old time newspapers to promote Deadwood. I haven’t seen the show, not having HBO, but westerns aren’t my thing anyway.

The weekend is totally unplanned at this point. I think my SIL is pretty much set up in her apartment (her super helped her with blinds and the A/Cs this week), so we don’t have to go there. Actually, the next time we go, we need to introduce Alan to the super’s son who is about the same age – her super and his wife came from Georgia (the republic, not the state) and the little boy has some sort of hearing aids (he may have a cochlear implant). [profile] moobabe do you have any links on the Georgian language?

NY magazine article on the impact of raising twins

My one real life friend with twins *IS* having a hard time - partially I think due to her husband's job. (He's an ob/gyn and should not go work on little sleep - much more risky than the average job done when tired.)

Thoughts?
