I managed to snap a few photos of Alan in his cute baseball outfit before I dropped him off. I’ll share later.
I didn’t get a chance to see too many children on the way to school today to see what teams/sports were popular. I spotted a lot of Yankee wear, some World Cup soccer shirts, and some NY Nets stuff. I suspect the Yankees and World Cup soccer (we have a lot of students in our town where English isn’t their first language) will be the most popular.
Alan has a rash (I think a poopy diaper was left on too long). Of course he’s uncooperative with cream. I hope we can start to potty train him soon. He appears to be afraid of the toilet, but I can’t get him to say why.
However his language skills are increasing. He puts thoughts together and initiates conversations now. He seems to whine his frustrated whine a little less now. He even spoke on the phone a little last night to a friend of ours saying hi and telling him he likes the cars characters. And this morning he asked for his juice box with a please!
There are still some things we need to work on with him – eating better (although I got him to eat raisin bread with peanut butter and jelly last night), going to bed on his own and brushing his teeth. I even saw him pull up his pants on his own last night, so I think he’s starting to show some interest and skill in dressing himself.
Oh, and don’t do business with Best Buy. We have e-mailed for a friend who had problems with a fancy TV and sound system she bought. (She ended up getting another one at PC Richard). The corporate executive who wrote back has been very hostile. I’m thinking our silly nickname for them “Worst Buy” is true. We’ve done a lot of e-mailing complaints in the past year and even Daewoo (maker of our poor quality DVD/VCR) was more helpful.
And last night I finally got to meet an online mom from one of the local mom groups I’m in. She needed maternity clothes to get her through the next month or so and since mine are just collecting dust, I loaned my summer stuff to her. I would have loved to stay and chat but Mark expected me home sooner. He managed to call me while I was on the way there and I was semi-lost (I’d never been to this town and it was one of those routes where you go through the next town to get back to the town you want). I’d really like to meet some more local to me mom friends and not just my online ones.
