Busy day

Alan and I had a busy day.

After we got up and dressed, I stopped at Dunkin Donuts on the way to his pre-k class. There were like 10 minivans lined up at the drive through. We got iced coffee (me) and 2 donuts - but were a little late to school. Then after dropping him off and giving the teachers their year end gifts (gift certficates to the local educational supply store), I drove up to my allergist for a followup appointment. My asthma #s are good, so my doctor wanted to lower the dose on my advair so I have a prescription for the lower strength. And as far as the congestion headaches I've been having lately, he thinks its mold, I should use my flonase 2x daily. Will do.

Got back to the condo, met up with my MIL and headed off to his pre-k sing for the parents. Although Alan was having fun when my MIL and I arrived, he wasn't great with the singalong. I think he was tired and a little group shy. He got a little summer present from his teacher - a pail/shovel with a package of teddy grahms, playdough, bubbles and a wiffle ball. The crackers are gone, but the rest should keep him busy during the summer! Then we drove back home and MIL left.

We headed out after a bit. Got gas (32 something for 11 gallons - OUCH!)
Dropped off my laundry at the laundromat (had to try a new one, the old one went out of business). (I like to send out sheets and towels and comforters once in a while - but Mark doesn't like me doing it, so I do it when I'm off for the day.) Then we went to Fedex Home to retrieve a printer my SIL had sent to us. Well, it turns out they attempted delivery again, so I have to go back Saturday to pick it up at Fedex (they are open 8-4). I'm not sure what the difference between regular Fedex and Fedex Home is, but I don't want anything shipped that way again that needs a signature - the regular Fedex office is much closer and open later! Then I headed back past the condo to get a cooler bag from a freecycler. Turned out to be a very nice Sam's Club insulated bag. I was happy I replied in time to get something useful! I plan to keep it in the car for perishables when we go to a supermarket. Then I headed to a consignment store that had recently opened. Nothing useful to resell (prices too high) but got

which matches

which I got in a thrift shop in Florida in January! (I also got a pair of madras plaid pull on shorts).

On the way home, I stopped at 7-11 and got sandwiches and slurpees. Alan didn't eat his sandwhich (turkey and cheese) or his slurpee (kryptonite - kind of a sour citris). He liked mine a little better (cola). Oh, well, I'll try him again on that sometime. We then came home and I couldn't get Alan to nap.

Later, Alan and I went back to get the laundry at the laundromat, and then to the library to get a DVD.

Then I took Alan to the pool to swim. He tossed all the pool noodles in as usual, but when we were ready to leave someone asked if he could clean them up. So I helped him as some had gotten into the deeper water. I even borrowed the lifegards net to catch one which impressed Alan. I wasn't thrilled with the way the person said it, but it was a good lesson for Alan to clean up.

Lastly we went to the park tonight. Some children who were a few years older got him into their tag game. I'm not sure he fully understood tag, but he had fun interacting with them. He also tried to play ball with some 10-12 year olds who were kicking a soccer ball around, he said "throw the ball to me"! I discouraged him from playing with them, because I didn't want him hurt. But they didn't mind.

I saw this duck there tonight. He/she's been around for a while, but I have no idea what kind it is. It stands up tall and straight like a loon but swims like a mallard duck.

Got Alan home (after walking home the long way), into a bath and after a few books he fell asleep quickly. I think I wore him out today!

Back to the old grind tommorrow, but we do have the State Fair Meadowlands tommorrow night. (It's dollar night, food/rides/admission is 1.00!). It's fun but I miss when they had free concerts in the admision price. Then they tried to charge seperate for them (new management), it bombed, so they stopped concerts. I think Alan will enjoy it more this year anyway.

Anyway, we did get a copy of our neighbors complaints (handwritten) in the mail today. Not sure how much is documentable other than he said/she said. So I am hopeful for the ADR hearing to resolve things. We don't have a copy of the letter where Alan being unsupervised is mentioned - that one worries me a little, because I do fear child-protective-services in general, hopefully that won't be a big issue.
