Why I don't want to be in NYC during the convention

I will NOT work at my office that week. I will either be:

AT HOME
In the Pearl River, NY office (appx 40 minutes north of me, different part of the company - don't know if it is an option)
Or on vacation (there are deadlines, but I have enough vacation time to be off)

HR is still considering things no one has heard yet (we do NOT have a work from home policy :( )

I don't blame you, I would not want to be there, either. I have the feeling that there will be some nasty stuff going down in the next few months, but with a domestic rather than foreign impetus, such as described in the article. Are you familiar with John Titor? He's a guy who showed up on internet message boards in 2000 claiming to be a time traveler from 2036. One of the things he said was the civil war would begin in 2004, around the time of the presidential election. I could actually see it happening, especially if the Bushies try to suspend the election and get caught in their typical underhanded activity.
