Moxie

I went to the vet to pick up his ashes last night. It was weird cause I had to wait for someone to pay a vet bill, so I petted the office cat Studleyy. The receptionist knew me, but it wasn't the one I knew well. It felt weird since I knew I wouldn't be back anytime soon (no cat in the near future).

Of course I come home with the box and when I wanted a hug, Mark was on the phone.

I think having the box makes Mark feel weird. It's in a wooden box in a cardboard box with a bag inside the wooden box. They even made a little pawprint of Moxie's foot (it's his, I see the extra toe he had). I don't want to put him in my MILs backyard, it's not ours and he wasn't there. I have no yard to put him in (I'd hoped he live long enough we'd have a house). So it's up on a high shelf for now - just a cardboard box, no clue.

But I do feel better having Moxie home in spirit.

I miss having a cat. I love Alan very much but it isn't the same...

The vet's office has always been nice to me, they sent flowers when I got married. I think Moxie was a special favorite of the vet because he was so laid back at the office, he'd even purr sometimes. (Unlike some cats I've heard of that totally freak out and have to warning labels on their file folders!) I got a card and flowers in Moxie's memory even and they offered to do the paw print when I left him. (I couldn't be there in the end, too painful.)

that was so sweet. It's good to know that people understand how much pets mean (which, since they are a vet's office, I would HOPE they would understand, but ya know, there are people out there who don't!). I will give Skratch some extra love tonight for ya!

I will. I have a feeling it might be in the Poconos before we find one in NJ.

Hopefully, we'll go out there again soon. I'd like to explore the development some more as well as see the insides of our friend's houses he was fixing up. (He forgot the keys the last time we were there).

He wants too much for the one he wants to sell for us to consider it, but at least we'd know it was fixed up :)

I still have Princess's ashes in the nice wooden box. I thought of burying her in the backyard of my parents' house, since that's where she grew up, but I'm only there in the winter. Maybe I'll simply keep the box. I put it up on a high shelf, because before she went blind she always wanted to be up high looking out over everything.

I have Moxie on a high shelf basically to keep him away from Alan.
I can't seem to put him in the bedroom or 2nd bedroom as he wasn't allowed in there because of DH's allergies (although I snuck him in sometimes.)
